Haha. In all seriousness, did you ever actually construct the noose when UConn hired Pasqualoni?

Even on the basketball board this dudes name surfaces?!? Get me outta here!!!

Ha, imagine how I felt, I went to 'Cuse while he was there but Ive always been a much bigger UConn fan. It was like having your psycho Ex randomly move into your building several years down the line.

Safe to say you've had enough for one lifetime.

And over the last 25, they have more wins. More conference championships. More All Americans, More FF's.

They have one more final four, while UConn has three more national championships. Same number of elite eights.

So you defend UCONN on a Syracuse board and Kansas on a UCONN board...what is your deal?

And about your metrics: for the past 25 years they have been playing in the damn Big 12 so wins and conference championship don't mean a damn thing to me. And the hero worship that you and others share about Kansas leads to the All-Americans. So that leaves their FF's to our championships.

If you want to argue about the Dust Bowl era I suppose you might have a case, but even then we were at the beach while their land blew it's way to the Rockies.
Although I wont concede that its a simple fact that KS is a better program than UConn, you've laid out a much appreciated reasonable and rational argument here. Theres just no way to reliably, formulaically, determine the value of a win, whether it be against an early season scrub team, league, tourney or a NC. I do enjoy the devil's advocate role though very much, and the Dust Bowl quip was hysterical.

So over the past 25 years you two would rather be Kansas fans than UCONN fan? Good lord.

No. I would rather be a UCONN fan but that doesn't stop me from seeing why some people would consider KS an elite program.

I see why Kansas is considered an elite program. It is their history. It is one of the very best.
I understand that landing a recruit over KS is a victory.
But I don't think it is logical for a HS bball player to choose, or be expected to choose KS over UCONN as a better program in 2014. Still happens, but it is based on the brand.
If I was buying stock in a program, I'd buy UCONN. You can buy KS if you really believe that. I have a sneaking hunch you would buy UCONN too.

Anyway, I think we understand each other's points and we can agree to disagree

Well, the statement I took issue with is when you said

"Those 4 "blue chip" teams include KU (for reasons I can't understand)"

And now you are saying:

"Anyway, I think we understand each other's points and we can agree to disagree"

Seems like you agreeing to disagree with yourself.

No worries. You are not the first succomb to my iron logic.

Back-pedalling. Nobody said Kansas wasn't elite, we were reacting to what you said which was: "Kansas is a better program. It's just a fact."

Backpedaling?

Nobody? Go back and read:

""Those 4 "blue chip" teams include KU (for reasons I can't understand)""

Seems like someone is saying that KS isn't elite.

Go ahead and backpedal. You earned it.

Wins and conference championships aren't all created equal. The NCAA Tournament is the one common denominator we have in college basketball.

Anyway said:
That was an attempt to be nice & move on.

If you want to insist that I don't understand the significance of KU, go ahead.
If you want to keep repeating that Kansas IS a better program than UCONN, go ahead. But I don't agree

So over the past 25 years you two would rather be Kansas fans than UCONN fan? Good lord.
Where did I say I would rather be a Kansas fan? I was just trying to point out what a complete idiot you are, but I guess there is no need because you make it obvious with every post. Enjoy your life as a homer though. No crime in that.

KS is a better program. Its just a fact.

Better recruits. More FF. NBA players. HOF coaches. Wins. Conference wins. etc

Besides 3 NC vs. 4 NC, what metric is KS behind UCONN?

Last 25 years UCONN has been better, plain and simple.

If you want to talk past history, then you would be correct, but young players don't think back that far and worry about recent history.

I like Malik. I'd be happy to have him for a season or two.

I didn't mean to make it sound like we're not on TV, but UK and KU will probably get top billing (ESPN, CBS, etc.) while we'll find our way on those networks as well but often on ESPN2, ESPNU, etc. Now you and I, and the rest of Husky Nation see UConn as a Blue Chip program, some still don't, even though we've won 4 NCs in the last 15 years, more than any other program during that time period. Being in the AAC takes a little shine off our luster, though KO and the athletic department are doing a good job of scheduling an elite OOC schedule to offset our not so elite bottom half of our AAC conference schedule.

Like it or not, if a recruit wants the glitz and perception of greatness, they tend to favor UK, KU, Dook & UNC, to name a few. If they prefer to play for a tough minded, out will you, battle tested program, they'll kick those programs to the curb and pick Storrs, CT as their college destination. I love our program and would not trade the Rick Moore's, Kemba Walkers and Shabazz Napiers for some of the elite recruits the above mentioned blue chip programs have had. Note that I realize that Walker was a Burger-AA and a top 20 recruit, though he climbed the rankings, moving into the top 20 after a stellar performance during the summer AAU circuit. I do take pride in the under-the-radar recruits that have been developed in Storrs by JC and now KO. I also take pride in some of the elite players who've played here (Donyell and Caron, to name a few). I would like to see what KO can do with a uber-talented roster, but hope he always gets a handful of recruits that come here and play with a chip on their shoulder with something to prove. It's just going to be interesting to see what KO does if say, 4 to 5 or even more highly ranked recruits want to play here. It will be hard for him to turn them down in favor of less heralded recruits, unless he sees someone like a Steve Enoch having more upside than some more highly ranked recruits.
Disagree Dog. The American's ESPN agreement mandates a whole lot of games be on the network, including the mother ship. Likewise, the CBS deal to broadcast games is out there. Who do you think they'll choose from the conference for the marquee broadcasts , Tulsa?

The American's TV deal is way, way, way undervalued, but they it does give good exposure. In the near term at least, we don't lose out to other schools based on exposure.

Really? Calhoun made it clear to a number of players over the years that they likely wouldn't see much playing time if they returned. Is that pushing guys out??? Maybe not, but we aren't innocent.
No that's honestly communicating with players. Calhoun didn't pull their 'ships, he just let them know where they stood. If they chose to leave, he'd help get them situated in a new school. Hard to find fault with that.

By the way, one guy he had that conversation with was Kevin Ollie, who promptly told him "No coach, I'm your point guard."

Of course over the last 15 we have more National Championships, so...

Donnell Beverly was another guy who was advised to transfer (or at least talked to honestly about his playing time) but stuck it out and ended up playing a big role on our 2011 championship team.

Kansas basketball program will be considered better until we really blow them out in terms of NCs and everything else to everyone whose not a UConn fan. That's where basketball started. They've had greats like Wilt and have dominated their conference for over a decade and is consistently a top 10 team. We don't have that consistency.
So yes, right now recruits are more attracted to Kansas usually because of their history and consistency. They know they are going to be on a top team. That's why they still get top recruiting classes every year. I can't even remember the last time Kansas didn't go to the tournament.

I guess you are right in this, but there is one exception. We consistently win national championships.
