Wow... That's good news for Syracuse, I suspect. He's trying to get out in front of it.

UConn has Hamilton and Calhoun playing Richardson's position, with Ali already committed. Will be a tough get.

He visited Cuse for the Cuse, IU game. One of those are likely. UConn probably third here.

This could be purely coincidental, but when is the last time a kid has "announced" for UConn? I honestly cannot recall an instance of one of our players setting an announcement date and picking UConn. I'm sure it's happened, but I'm drawing a blank.

It's been awhile for sure. Certainly nobody on the current roster. Not any of our commitments for 2014 or 2015. Not even the guys who left the program in recent years - Roscoe, Drummond, Lamb, Oriakhi, Jamal Coombs-McDaniel, Bradley, Wolf.

It's actually kind of amazing that we've gotten as many good players as we have lately without a single one doing the pre-planned announcement thing.

Never. He must love playing zone- poor kid- or as they say in the South-"bless his heart".

Ollie is one big man away from coming back loaded for 2 seasons and a real big chance to be a top favorite. Someone to play PF with Brimah or center with him.

This assumes that Boatright comes back, but if he doesn't, they'll need a PG regardless for 2015.

Roscoe announced during a Georgetown game, picked us over them and Duke

wasn't a press conference or anything like that though, word just came out. Harkless is the only one in recent memory I can recall as he did it on SNY.

No he didn't. He committed the same day as the Georgetown game, but it wasn't during the game. Nobody knew that he was deciding that day.

Harkless had an announcement for UConn on SNY. Of course, he never actually ended up attending UConn.

"He's gotta focus on being a lockdown defender."

Cuse and their zone would be the obvious best choice for that...

I've never understood how they get such great classes over and over again. They don't take many of those kids and put them in the NBA and the ones they do don't have stellar careers other than the one and done who they didn't develop, but rode. They don't win big games. One championship over 30 years of getting top classes isn't burning things down. I can't believe upstate New York is a huge draw to most (kinda like Storrs, but maybe worse). As has been pointed out, playing a zone doesn't exactly get anyone ready for NBA defense. So how do they draw these top kids year in and year out? I just don't get it.
