I read that article before clicking this post and thought, 'wow, that headline has nothing to do with the article.' Basically everyone said they would be shocked if he didn't come back and keep coaching, including JC yet the headline is about speculation he might not. Weird. People really don't want to see him get his 4th or over 900.

"It's like, 'OK, Jim you're 70 years old, what more do you want to prove?" said Digger Phelps

All Digger wanted to prove was that he could make a FF, I guess.

Digger should retire from ESPN and/or announcing period......he has proven he can color coordinate his marker with his tie, what else could he possibly accomplish now that he has mastered that skill

Digger was actually an outstanding game coach when he was young and at Fordham. But when you listen to him talk these days, it's really, really difficult to figure out how.

Retirement from something you are so passionate about and so involved in can be disastrous. He'll coach until he can't/wants or his family forces him to. Its obvious he doesn't listen to his doctor. I will add that 'poor' teams (i.e. players) can cause early exits as well.

He is still putting players in the NBA and overseas (earning a good living) and that's worth continuing coaching. Player career development, I imagine must be a satisfying accomplishment.

Like many people, his on-screen persona is quite different than he is in real life, at least by my limited observations. He is basically playing an exaggerated caricature.
