Louisville Manhattan

What's interesting about the Cards/Jaspers game is that they both run the same stuff. I'm sure most of us heard that Manhattan's coach was a long time Ricky P disciple and knows exactly what UL does. They fly out to trap just like UL does, and maybe doing it better than UL tonight.

If UL loses, it will make the NCAA Committee look brilliant and all the experts and yahoos like me look silly to think UL was way under-seeded.

So did our lack of ability to match up with Louisville lead to everyone overrating them nationally?

We keep forgetting they lost to Memphis and came a last second shot from losing to Cincinnati.

While it doesn't look good for the conference, I wouldn't mind at all if UConn, and maybe Memphis, were the only AAC teams to advance. I just don't like Cinci or Louisville.

.-.
Ville is not getting away with the reach in fouls.

Agreed, UL is getting whistled for a lot of fouls that they got away with against us.

Yes, both the trapping defense on the guards and the full court pressure. We used neither.

These teams foul all the time and they are never called. They use the opposite hand to reach for the ball, which creates contact almost all the time. IOW, the right hand reaches across to the left side, and vice versa.

Remember: if your parents named you Montrezl, you get to pick which letter you wish to make silent. That's called "The Wildcard"...
I think I'd choose the "o"

.-.
UL making late plays, though Manhattan just made a big time play and has a chance for an and-1.

Whatever happens, this is a great effort by Manhattan. Hope they can pull it out but it doesn't look good at the moment.

Huge 3s by Hancock - killer for Manhattan.

Wow, when I saw Hancock move across the lane and no one went with him, I saw that one coming. Just horrible D.

.-.
Manhattan was in position for the upset, but simply made too many mistakes down the stretch. The cross court pass that Hancock stole that not only got him to the line but fouled out their big man was the turning point. Then a late missed FT on the and-1. And not having someone check Hancock all over the floor. Just poor execution. Give UL credit for exploiting those mistakes.

UL winning helps my brackets, but if we end up getting to -4 and meeting up with them, which seems slim based on how we played today, I'll be wishing UL didn't pull this one out.

the strikes again
He is their most valuable player, IMO. Not the best; but LV game requires the ability to knock down long range shots every now and then, and this guy is super clutch.
