Significant because there is no way Louisville leapfrogs UCONN for a 1 seed now. Louisville has 3 losses on the season to unranked tOSU & Syracuse + (17) FSU. Only Mississippi State, Oregon State, or Stanford, or NCST have a realistic chance to get a number 1 seed right now over UCONN and each would have to win their conference tournament to do it.

2 losses in a row obviously pushes them off the 1-seed line. Do they drop to a 3 seed? So many upsets recently. It's going to be a feeding frenzy in the Pac 12 and ACC, but especially in the Pac 12. Teams can easily get pushed off seeding lines as they cannibalize each other.

I’m not so sure how much this hurts Louisville. They are playing without Balogun, who is a starter. I think if she comes back and Louisville gets back to winning, the impact of the losses is minimalized.
They have to be missing Balogun badly in these last two losses (out playing with Nigerian National Team). Will the voters cut them some slack tomorrow? (I mean the rest of the voters other than Deb Antonelli who will, of course, cut them some slack and continue to vote them #1`)

Keep in mind that Charlie to some extent is parroting what the committee has indicated to him.

You really think the voters will know this? A level of awareness not expected.

A bad loss for a good team. Great for us UConn fans . Nevertheless, I could see a bad loss coming to them. I thought they were highly overrated

Maryland is in the mix for a 1 seed??? Is Charlie related to Brenda???

They're definitely in the mix. #5 massey and all losses right now are "good" losses, to Iowa/Northwestern/SC/NC State who are ranked #17, 12, 3, and 6. They have 2 good wins over Indiana (15 massey) and a win over Northwestern (12), plus potentially another win against Iowa who they play at home (17) and 1-2 more wins in the Big Ten tournament if they win their conference title. If UCONN loses tomorrow and MD wins out they'll have a better resume than the Huskies IMO.

Not worried about a 1. Like last year, sometimes being a 2 is better than being the 1.

Maryland also has 9 wins over the top 50, tied with Iowa for most in the country.

The strength of the Big Ten is helping them a lot this year. Their SOS is currently at #3, whereas it used to always be their achilles heel.

The biggest significance of this loss is that even if the Huskies lose tomorrow, they'll likely still be ahead of Louisville and should get priority for the #2 seed in Fort Wayne over the Cardinals. This means Louisville probably has to play a road game at Baylor, SC or Oregon to get to the Final Four instead of UCONN.

This week we saw a slew of potential #1s and #2s drop games that should help the Huskies in a huge way to stay on the 2 line:

Stanford losing at home to UCLA
Louisville losing to Florida State and Syracuse
Gonzaga losing at St Mary's
Oregon State losing at home to Arizona

Right now, IMO it looks like the seedings would be (in order):
1-SC, Baylor, Oregon, UCONN
2-Maryland, NC State, UCLA, Stanford
3-Mississippi State, Arizona, Louisville, Northwestern

UCONN dropping the game tomorrow likely pushes them down to #7 or #8 but keep in mind, lots of big games left to be played including:

Oregon schools playing against UCLA and Stanford
Maryland vs. Iowa
Mississippi State @ Kentucky and vs. Arkansas
UCONN @ South Carolina
Louisville @ NC State
Stanford @ both Arizona schools and vs both Oregon schools
SC @ Kentucky and vs. A&M

Plus all of the conference tournaments. The only team who appears to be in the clear is Baylor. Wouldn't be surprised if every other team drops a game before the end of the regular season.

In the clear as far as not picking up any more losses, or for a #1 seed?

I guess both, they should be a lock for a #1 even if they drop a game and it looks incredibly unlikely that they'll lose prior to the NCAAs. The Big 12 is awful this year.

South Carolina would have to drop multiple games to the also-rans of the SEC to screw up their #1 seed at this point.

There is a really huge gap in the resumes between the top 3 and the rest of the top 16.

In that case, I think Oregon would have to mess up big time to drop from a #1 seed. Wins over UConn, Stanford, Oregon St. x2 and Arizona x2 gives them quite a bit of leeway, not to mention another shot at Stanford and also UCLA.

edit--agreed about Baylor, nobody in the Big 12 should be able to beat them
