LOUDEST crowd ever...

interesting historical perspective - the Syracuse games on 1/15/90 and Georgetown on 1/20/90 were followed by the last game at the Field House vs. Central on 1/24/90 and the opening of Gampel vs. SJU on 1/27/90.

1/17/90 opening of Gampel = Dan Cyrulik's career game....BTW, the first basket scored at Gampel was by SJU's Robert Werdann.

That game is pretty much the standard against which all others are judged. Twenty-two years later, it's still the loudest.

I was at both and while the Kansas game was great with Rip at the point, there will never be a match to the GTown 1990 game..........when GTown/JT called the 2nd TO at 14-0 the place was out of control loud................and it hardly ever decreased that night. Both games were great and being at the WVU game Monday also allows me to say this was impressive too but not as consistent. Best one in along time though.

alex good to see you at Russian Lady.......mad dash to get our appetizers and check before we missed a lot of the game so didn't get a chance to talk much........catch you there next game when not entertaining customers!! May see you at your employers next time I'm out with Jimmy......have a good one

Monday's crowd was great, and I too started losing my voice

some dream season crowds were exceptional. I don't remember the crowd at the Hoya game, I just remember we won. Cuse however, I remember well. We had a couple of calls go against us late in the first half, when the refs walked off the court they were boo'd and jeered as loudly as anything I ever heard including some of Red's best cheers.

It's like we told the officials we're not going to take that anymore. The 2nd half was a different story, and it hasn't stopped for 22 years now

Yep...our late arrivers at the Russian lady ended up cancelling their orders and we still got into the XL late....it was 9-4 already....of course stopping to buy a $9 beer didn't help. Let me know when you're around....

Maybe the most consistently loud UConn crowd I ever heard was that NIT game in the Field House against VCU. Jeff King killed 'em. It was the one time where they filled all the open space between the stands and the court with folding chairs. You couldn't stuff one more person in there. VCU had no idea what they were getting into. They didn't stand a chance.

My daughter is a bartender/waitress at the Russian Lady, so please tip well, especially if you're served by a tall, beautiful brunette!!

Great place, as it always was in the past. But they were totally unprepared for a pregame crowd that was there to eat, have a few beers and go to the game. I realize their kitchen is about the size of my kitchen at home, but we had to hunt down our waitress at 7:50 to cancel the salads that were ordered at 7:00 (figuring it would be the quickest meal for them to prepare).

i will and always do huskyhal....as alex said totally unprepared for the rush....we ordred apps well before 6 and had to ask for them at 6:45....and quite honestly they were awful....cheese wizz on the nachos and skins and the quesadillas had little or no chicken or texture....but the place is still a very cool "drinking" establishment.

Great way to send WVU packing :)

my ears are still hurting, but it's a good hurt!

Was at VCU game at field house. Not only loud but must have been about 90 degrees in the building with all the energy in the building. '90 Cuse and GTown still the loudest games that I ever attended.

Fortunately I was at that one too and you are correct crazy and fun. 5K people rocking the Field House and dust coming from the ceiling. I was in the front row under the hoop and in many TV highlights too!! Fun night...............

Nova 96 (the blizzard game) >>>> the 98 MSU game. It's not even close.

Thought this quote in today's Courant by SN on Monday's crowd was great:

"If it weren't for the crowd, we would have lost that game," Napier said. "We have the best fan base in the country." …
