That would make them ties with UTenn at sixth (T-6); pretty sure the Huskies will have no problems with PC on Sunday, to take sole possession of 6th place with 45 in a row. Also lost was that the Huskies 44th consecutive win tonight surpassed South Carolina and is now #7 on the WCBB D1 win streaks list. Of the top 6 teams on this list, 1, 2, 3 and 5 are UConn, and 6 is Tennessee with 44 straight.
Also lost in the clutter - Azzi passed the 1500 point career scoring mark in the game and now sits at 1519 and in 30th place all-time behind MoJeff (1532) having moved above Asjha Jones (1502.)
Telluride: TN streak is 46. And that LaTech streak in 4th place is mostly an AIAW record, so I like to ignore it! 😎
Not updated with tonight’s win. On Feb 18, UConn’s current win streak is 44

Nah, if the Lady Techsters schedules of both years were significantly different, then I might agree with you, ucmiami2. But in both years LaTech played a bunch of the best programs in WCBB at that time; and their runs to the NC in both years was impressive.Just a side note on the winning streaks - LaTech won 32 of 54 their games with an undefeated 32-0 season while under the AIAW system (an undefeated season the NCAA does not recognize in their list of undefeated seasons/teams), and then won 22 games to start their first NCAA season. I think that streak should have a 'Babe Ruth Asterisk' attached at the very least! 😎
(I actually contacted the NCAA stats folks to ask the question, and was informed that the inclusion decision and reason were lost in the mists of time. Still, it would be nice to have the 4 top streaks and perhaps the fifth as well.)
Can Sarah Strong take them to 100 before she is done? Not updated with tonight’s win. On Feb 18, UConn’s current win streak is 44

This made me curious, so I looked up the Tennessee media guide. Their first games were in 1903 against Maryville (two losses by 10-1 and 16-6). This may not even have been modern five-on-five full court basketball. Tennessee's first recorded win was in 1907 against Central High School. They played Maryville one or twice many of the succeeding years, finally beating them in 1924 after at least 13 losses. There's nothing at all between 1926 and 1960, and only a coaches' name (Nancy Lay) between 1960 and 1968. There were two more coaches before Pat Summitt; Margaret Hutson went 60-18 and won two TCWSF Eastern Region Championships (TCWSF became the AIAW in 1972).Now what the NCAA recognizes and what they don't is another issue all-together. For example, recognizing Tennessee as having the most wins all-time because UT claims to have won games going back to the 1902-03 season. Good grief, the next oldest program in the most wins list is James Madison beginning in 1920-21. So who in heck were the Lady Vols even playing?
Yep, formalhaut. It's there in their archives for the world to see. I did a deep dive into Tennessee women's basketball arcives a few years back as part of some research I was doing into the Hutcherson Flying Queens of Wayland Baptist University. This made me curious, so I looked up the Tennessee media guide. For people who want to dismiss the AIAW, however, would you like to take away 175 of Pat Summitt's wins?
