Love it. Further from me, but good change of pace.

Same here. I've been to there several times for Connecticut Sun games, and it's a nice trip. The free parking almost makes up for the extra gas costs and more expensive restaurants.

Cool, have they posted the betting lines yet for the AACT? I'll take UConn and the over in all three games as I'm sure the SMU, Rutgers, and Louisville players will have put in too-late nights at the craps tables.

This should be fun. I bet Hartford is really bummed. I"ve never been to Mohegan Sun. will be fun for me next march... Would UCONN fans be supportive of holding it in Bridgeport? It seems like most were happy with the 2nd round of the NCAA's, except maybe for the parking...?

Good Move, might bring more other schools fans to attend. Its worth a try for a couple of years

Sounds like a good experiment, particularly when we don't know how well the new schools in the conference will "travel" for the Tournament. I like the arena and the free parking, plus lots of different kinds of restaurants and pretty decent in-arena concessions. It will be interesting to see how it is priced for all-session tix.

Interesting, and I think great. But I hope it is not too long a deal. While I love having the conference championship in CT, I think it would be better to create a rotating home between two to four venues. Geographically Ct is now truly at the NE edge of the AAC and it would be wise to spread the wealth.

Much less convenient, but I'm happy to hear it. Will probably plan a multi-day trip.

Great - Five miles down the road for me. Easy access for the shoreline fans - it's all divided highway right up to the parking garage, plenty of free parking, good to great restaurants and the Sun arena is a nice place to watch a game.

As someone said, it will be most interesting how the newbies travel. Actually, I never thought most of the soon to be gone BE traveled very well, although its been a few years since I've been to the tourney. Notre Dame and the teams that could get there easily (based also on the size of their fan-base) were the better represented of the non-UConn folks, IIRC.

Not sure that any of them are going to bring large contingents.

I doubt any of the other teams could get more than 1,000 fans in their own arena. It needs to be CT for the foreseeable future.

This is brilliant not only because of the free parking right on site but because the arrivals and departures will be staggered because there's so much to do before and after the game that some fans will arrive early and/or stay on for an hour or so after the games. So no huge traffic tie-ups. Just imagine lots of choices for delicious food at normal prices, tons of rest rooms, stores to shop in, and of course the casinos.

When to the tickets go on sale. I can't wait! plenty of FREE parking. Lots of food choices and the little lady can play the idiot machines after the game.

I can see the top of the casino hotel from my bedroom. We visit the casino every other month or so usually for dinner. Some of the best restaurants in the area are in the casino. My wife usually donates her $20 to the slots. I don't gamble (but I drink). We also go to Sun games and we take the grand kids to the free fireworks shows in the summer. We've stayed in the hotel a couple of times. It's a nice option to have if you dread a long drive after the game or if you're going to see multiple games.

Hard to get to if you're car free - and whatever you do, do NOT stay at the casino -- so that means non-CT travelers need a car.

Also means that 9000ish is the top attendance.

Will the gentlemen still play at MSG?

Arena seating for basketball is just over 9500. The BEast championship drew 9085 at the XL center. Amtrak serves New London. Its about a 15 minute cab ride from the NL station.

I've stayed at the hotel a couple of times and found it clean, quiet and comfortable. Its also reasonably priced. It has a lot of good reviews on Trip Advisor and an overall very favorable rating. There is also a Hyatt Mohegan Sun and a Best Western within a mile of the casino.

You can get pretty good deals on cars if you reserve well in advance. we could go half-sies....

The Mohegan hotel is definitely NOT reasonably priced when occupancy is expected to be high. I don't know whether the AAC championship will result in high occupancy or not, but I definitely wouldn't count on it being cheap. There are, however, satellite hotels.

Read in the Courant that the XL Center is going after both the men and women's tournament. IMHO the XL Center should concentrate on getting the mens tournament as that is the one that will have the most financial impact for the State of CT. More other school fans will travel to the mens tournament then they would for the women's tournament. Can't see the conference awarding both tournaments to the same venue, never mind the same State. Additionally, the Mens Tournament would probably sell out the XL Center while the Women's Tournament would not.

For the women's tournament if the AAC was willing, give it to Louisville for one year as they will support it with their local fan base. However, I doubt if members of the AAC will give it to Louisville as a parting gift. I would only do this if the XL Center was awarded the Mens tournament and there was an unwillingness to give both tournaments to one State.

The notion that Louisville will support a league tournament keeps coming up when there is no evidence, seriously it doesn't exist, that Louisville could actually support such a tournament. The lifeblood of the women's tournament has always been people being willing to pay $99 for the tournament package. Louisville practically gives away tickets to women's games. Why would fans pay $99 all of a sudden for a tournament where the only good game is likely to be Uconn-Louisville?
