That is simply wrong, PC ran a pick and roll offense at a higher percentage than just about any team in the country. The offense sucked because outside of Bentil it was the team that couldn't shoot straight. Did you even watch them play? Every single draft card on him talks about how he excels in the pick and roll. Derrick Thornton's trainer specifically called out Coach K for lying to him about how much pick and roll he would play and actually compared it to how much pick and roll Dunn was exposed to. Just google it and you will see it. Interesting ... on why he might be leaving Duke. | Utefans.Net I honestly don't know where you are coming from here.
Hey FriarJ, other than whether UConn did, or didn't offer Dunn, more important is I recall our daughters got married 3 years ago around the same time.
Question is, any grandkids yet? Mine delivered twins in May. Much more fun than speculating over Dunn's recruitment 5 years ago.

Oh my congratulations man! That is awesome news. No kids yet for mine. A dog who they treat like a kid though. I'm like "you can be proud of it but it's not like you birthed it. You bought it" :)

I still don't get why a Providence fan is still hanging out here on a UConn board. Will he be here 10 years after we let THEM have the BigEast name?
We bought that because you guys needed money.

I have no problem with you trolling and defending your program in here, if you wasn't so phony about it. There are moments where I feel that you're not a bad poster at all, only to check the PC message boards and watch you bash this forum. Upstater wrote his opinion on Dunn, people on here disagreed with him, but hey guys, look at The Boneyard, these clowns are saying they never offered Dunn. I'll give you props though, you have people actually defending you too.
I stated a fact. He said it, that's why I have people defending me and everything I said about Napier is exactly how I feel. I simply don't have the hate for UConn that so many others hold. I am upset and continue to be that the two programs can' seem to be able arrange games. I think it's ridiculous and I do blame UConn for it.

We like that your fans bring up Ernie D & Larry Kevirtis (*WTF) ... in a era that we draw 8000 to see Ray Allen, Andre Drummond, Rudy Guy, Kemba. See ... we don't think you are Maine or New Hampshire; but more the relic like Holy Cross. You are wishing we decline to your annual level; and we despise you for that thinking. (as we fight to rise beyond that)

I see little reason to play PC ... when we are squeezing MSG games in with Syracuse; desiring to play Villanova or Georgetown occasionally; and a few National games. (Ohio State, Duke, Gonzaga, North Carolina, Michigan State) We don't play - primarily - because you aren't very high on the priority list given we have limited room in OOC. That simple.

He wasn't a PC fan obviously. It was clear from what he typed but for the slow, I have said it again. The excuse for not playing is BS and you know it.

You bought it because allowed you to continue to capitalize upon the success that others (namely UConn) had in the conference.

The relationship is explained more fully in the link below.

Maybe you guys can buy the AAC name after it falls apart from the B12 moves.

No need. When you have achievements, you don't need to buy a name to cover up the lack of them.

Right because those achievements have been so helpful for you so far.

I'd say so...

Well they got you into the AAC so that's something I guess.

As Mick said at Altamont "people, people why are we fighting?" Three pages on Kris Dunn's recruitment? Truly the dog days of summer. FriarJ , you know why UConn won't schedule PC. Everyone on this board knows why. BecausePC has more to gain playing that game then UConn does so UConn won't schedule it. That's the way it works in college sports. It happened to UConn all the time when they started getting good under Calhoun. So, you can complain about the lack of a UConn-PC game but until it benefits both teams (meaning you guys have to do some damage during March Madness first) your complaint will fall on deaf ears.

I've got no room to hate or even strongly dislike PC. I just don't. It's a nice school, 20 minutes from my house and I miss the games at the Dunk. They've had some solid teams, and even when they didn't they were never easy to beat and rose to the occasion against UConn several times. Depending on the outcome of the next few weeks, we are either going to have very few local games and will need more; we will be in a league with PC again; or we will need to prop up our OOC schedule to ridiculous heights to make up for the AAC suckitude. So I can see room for PC on the schedule in the future.

That may have been the case at one time, but I think based upon both the teams RPI's the last 3 years playing a home and home would no longer hurt UConn and in fact it would help. Your home schedule this year is abysmal I'm sure the season ticket holders can't be happy. PC would at least put fannies in the seats which is a big part of the $ equation for every program.

Yeah, not seeing PC as a particularly big draw.

Not really. We are still in the same conference in which we earned all of those trophies. You realize that you are in a start up conference right?

Yeah, not seeing PC as a particularly big draw.
I'm sure you are right, I mean we are no Tulane, ECU, Tulsa, Wagner, South Florida, Central Florida or Northern Florida. What happened did Eastern Florida not want to travel to Storrs?

Congrats on that achievement.

Nah, you are just another New England program trying to hold on to past successes that few actually remember. Pretty much the same as scheduling Holy Cross or UMass. I suspect the vast majority of people aren't sure if PC is a branch campus of URI.
Congrats on that achievement.
Which of the 21 national championships are you referring to? Or are you referring to all of them?

Everything in in the past. Yesterday is in the past. The present and the future are all that matters and why UConn is fighting tooth in nail to eradicate themselves from the mess they are in.

I can see why you'd be reluctant to put any weight on a history of success, that's not a metric PC does well in. Much better to hope that "this year is going to be the year" when it all comes together. I'm not sure that rest of college sports feels that way though.

Congratulations on your membership with the Big East, you'll continue to enjoy a modicum of credibility based on the accomplishments of others.

It's interesting that you don't realize how stupid this makes you look. To mock UConn fans, when your school is paying us for the privilege of continuing to enjoy the legacy we were paramount in establishing shows an incredible amount of stupidity.

Given the choice between having UConn's resume and being stuck in the AAC, vs. having PC's resume, and being in the Big East, well...only an alum would choose the latter. That's why we have fans all over the country, and you have fans all over Cumberland, RI.

I see Kevin Ollie as a great transition from a legendary coach. How often has that happened in the last 30 years? Even with the CR mess we find ourselves in ... we are still fighting at a level that WE can win a National Championship in a given year. EVIDENCE? I don't think 2014 is really past history when this is the topic; that excellent run through March Madness is eminently relevant.

Hard to disagree with that Ollie is outstanding, you are fortunate to have him.

These comments on my part have had to do with scheduling. I'm being realistic in regards to UConn and PC playing, you are being a piece of Spartacus. It's hard to have a serious back and forth when you just want to flame.

FPC. They would never play UConn in the 60's and 70's when they were good even though they were just a short drive away.
