Im really looking forward to all the following games to see how much everybody continues to improve. Our starters have not played alot of minutes due to the blowouts. Our bench has held its own and is looking much improved. Now Im looking forward to our bench players continued improvement. See what else they have, see more continuity and see more lockdown defense from them.

As for our starters. More poise. Stop set and shoot. Down low I would like to see some nice moves to get open. More dribble drives, breakaway lapups and under control. This is nothing more than just continued improvement, tweaking, and fine tuning.

The only question for me is can any team stay with UConn. It would take an opponent to keep UConn from scoring over 60 pts because UConns defense most likely wont give up more than 60 pts. To do that opponents would have to get key players in foul trouble which would make UConn defenseless. With 3 fouls you have to back off on defense which allows opponents a free lane to score. In past years we saw teams flop and fouls called on UConn which made UConn defenseless. Thats why its very important for UConn to get their bench going just in case the inevitable occurs.

This UConn team is better than good. Their defense creates havoc and caucus. UConn has multiple defenders who can stop opponents in their tracks. Multiple defenders is what creates team defense. There are teams out there with one or two and even three players who can play defense. No team has a defense like UConn. In the SC Vandy game SC ran over Vandy however Vandy still scored over 70 pts. That's what Im referring to.

So, moving forward next week we have Tenn coming up. Some fans are concerned because of what happened last year. That was last year and this is a better team especially defensively. I dont think this game will be close. Tenn imo is not disciplined and not a good 3 pt shooting team. They are big as is Uconn however UConn is much quicker and more disciplined. This game could get ugly fast.

Agreed! Nice "forward looking", Tonyc. My own version has me
thinking: "Which (non-starting) Huskie will be the one who
"Turns it up a notch" during the month of February? I surely
hope that Blanca continues on her upward trajectory. I would
like to see JANA return to her NCAA game prowess (and ICE, if she
is needed). But consider Allie or K9. Does anyone believe
they will "breakout". I myself would love to see YANNA continue
to improve and be one of the "surprises" during February... will she be the one to "Excel"?? Let's have some Boneyard insights and may all of our
dreams come true: "When you wish upon a (future) star"!!!
UPHS! I forgot, perhaps the nicest surprise of all: CAROL!
What if Ducharme starts hitting all of her THREES and plays
like the veteran she is to bring the HUSKIES to the PROMISE LAND, AGAIN!

Here are some improvements I would like to see so the team can sustain through foul trouble and other unforeseen adversities.
1. Forwards getting more consistent with scoring. Serah to not get too far under the basket and Jana to not miss bunnies. Yanna to continue to progress.
2. Allie and Caroline learning to play a little faster so the 3-point and defensive threat remains even when Azzi and Ash are not on the court.
3. K9 and Kelis continue to mature and lead the team when they need to.

I believe Blanca is progressing to become the reliable 3rd scorer so nothing to add here.

LOOKING FORWARD...... a wonderful title for a post I am looking forward to Tennesee being the last obstacle on Uconn's way to another N.C. then Uconn will take care of the Big East championship and be fine tuned to take on the NCAA Tournament. Obviously Uconn has to possibly go through 3 NO ones to get to the title, but, there will be no-one as well prepared as Uconn to achieve this goal. " THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE ".GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone else get the impression Shea was shocked at how badly they were beaten by SC? Don’t get me wrong, I’m convinced she will use this to rally her team and that they will get better from here but she just seemed a little shellshocked after that game.

Shea had to know that scale of defeat was coming. And I'm sure she knows a few more are coming too. Now we might think SC's defense is not the juggernaut it's been in previous years because of the Vandy score. I'm not buying it. They've lost a couple of key pieces in Watkins and Kitts. But the team culture in Columbia is team defense. That hasn't gone away.

UConn gave up a similar score to Michigan -- just a reminder. Maybe it's fair to say that one game happened early while the other happened later in the season which makes it more damning. But I won't bet against Dawn pulling her team together into a sharp defensive unit by March. I'm a lot less confident about Texas LSU or UCLA doing the same. They are right now what they'll be come tournament time. But SC and UConn are still trending upwards. I'd say SC peaked last season before the SEC tournament, while UConn peaked in the Final Four. But this season, we don't know how much sharper these two team can get.

Don't get me wrong. I think UConn will stomp all the way to another NC this season, and their best game will be their last one. But I'm not going to discount SC this early. For one thing, Dawn started a small lineup against Vandy for the first time and had good success with it. She's still tinkering, just as Geno is.
