As basketball, most regular high school games I have seen are virtually unwatchable, because the truth is that the game plan is get the ball to the legitimate star - who may be a forward playing the point because she has the best handle.Some College Ball is unwatchable, never mind High School. Previously I have attended some High School games in my local area when there are highly rated players. Admit it doesn't happen frequently.
I think the "big name" teams are probably much more watchable (i.e. Christ the King), especially when they play other good teams, they just weren't physically close enough for me to attend (I also don't have much interest, to be honest).
Unfortunately, as noted, USA teams put together at this level requires combining seriously good players with various coaching backgrounds into a "team" playing roles they may not play exactly normally. And doing it with minimal practice. As someone said above, at some point it isn't going to be enough to just put the team together for events, although remember USA basketball encourages players that compete in the various levels available each year, unfortunately, that means different USA coaches each year as well.
