It really is amazing how infrequently your posts have any connection to actual reality.

I particularly like how you attach all these percentages and probabilities to things you have completely made up.
Except I’m right. EVERY year except for 19 a play-in team won their first round game in an upset, two of them went to the Final Four and an additional two went to the Sweet 16.

If that’s your case then you should want the 5 seed because the 1 won’t be there. You have NO idea which seeds are gonna win or lose. Give me the best seed we can get every time. You eventually have to beat everyone in front of you if you’re gonna win.
There you go again talking logic and being rational. How dare you. LOL

It was the “Duke doesn’t have anyone to handle Sanogo” part.

Also, you should learn how sample sizes work.

Play-in winners are more dangerous than your average 12 seed.

They are not more dangerous than Duke.

Root for the best seed possible even though 12-5 is a tough nut.

I think we can agree however that the 4 seed in the BET would have been grand.

11 years is a solid sample size. Who can guard Sanogo? Don’t give me Banchero. He definitely cannot.

90% of this board doesn’t believe that and thinks if we get hot it’s 2011 or 2014.

And what? This isn’t math we’re talking about, it’s sports. I have no idea what will happen and neither do you but I do know that we’re gonna have a better seed than we did one of those seasons.

Do you even watch Duke? Their starting center is Mark Williams who's 7'0 242 and averages 11 and 8 with almost 3 blocks a game
I’m sure he watches Duke, it’s just the alternate version of Duke he’s created in his head, not the version of Duke we’re watching in actual reality.

yeah, duke's strength is their frontline. williams/banchero has to be the best 4-5 combo in the sport outside of maybe smith/kessler. their back-up 5 is theo john -- he would be a solid starter for most d1 teams.

if we were to beat duke, i think it'd be because of guard play imo. and the fact that they haven't faced a top-25 quality opponent since november.

5s are 92-53 over 12s. Your fear is a little irrational. Whatever 12 we play we’ll be better than and should win. If we lose, we were never actually good enough to go to a final 4 anyway. Just play who’s in front of you. All of this “easy path” stuff is nonsense. We’re either going to get a good team who earned their bid, or a hot team who earned their bid. There won’t be an “easy” game. We want the highest seed possible.

Theo was a solid starter for Marquette

I also think the conference we come out of prepares us better. I am not certain that the ACC or Pac 12 are that strong

Add the B10 to that list too. Lots of 10-ply Charmin-soft teams in those 3 conferences

FYI: They have met on the court. I watched Sanogo get over 20 pts vs Mark Williams 2 years ago. Both players are better now, but a good result for us is not out of the question in that matchup. At least Sanogo should be confident going in.

Agree with all of this outside the fact that Chet & Timme say hello

Ironically it was the 6 seed from UConn's region that got the play-in winner...

A 1-4 seed is out the window. If we get a 5, that is a death sentence. A 6 is a life sentence. The 6/11 matchup is almost the same as the 5/12 and there is no 1 seed to deal with until the Elite 8.
All about matchups for us. Not numbers except avoiding 1 seeds. They are a problem.

NMSU is a good matchup for us. So I’ll take that. I also think our athleticism could be a problem for Gonzaga if we get there.
