Before the Big East Tournament anyone really think that we'd win it all and then take the national championship? I'm obviously not saying that we are on track to win it all, but I'm not quite ready for sack cloth and ashes either. I'm concerned about the last two games, but I trust KO to figure it out. It may not be pretty while that's happening though. If we get some decent post play, even if it is by committee, all of a sudden we become a far more difficult team to play. Just saying.

The fact that we won a very tough Maui Invitational at least showed we were a very good team that year, even if we didn't always play like it. The blowout against Kentucky, especially. What we've seen so far this year is hardly as encouraging.

We also had Kemba Walker.

We had a big man that could go for a double double every game. Not the case this year.

Then: First losses, @ Pitt, close game @ Notre Dame. Now: at home at a mediocre Stanford team, while blowing a lead. @ a lousy Houston team.
Then: Good early wins against WSU, MSU and UK at neutral site. Now: Eeeked out wins over a decent IU team and buzzer beater against Florida @ home.

The 10-11 played lousy in February, so yes, the run was a surprise. But at this point of the season, they looked damned good. Bounced back from the ND loss to beat a highly ranked UT on the road. Let's see what they bring for Harvard, if we win by double figures, I'll allow myself to be encouraged. But this team was never going to win a NC. In two more years? Maybe.

I still say the 2011 team never had any "bad" losses. Sure, you can point to the St Johns game because that was a blowout but it was a road game and STJ ended up making the tournament that season. All the other losses were games they could have won, meaning they were competitive games until the other team pulled away down the stretch.

we beat MSU and UK in HI, we were riding high

No Kemba, no Lamb, and - cover your ears Mau - no Oriakhi.

Want to know something really scary Crack, everyone please forget this came out - the way these guys play on the interior I'd take him back. Even his underachieving 7 and 6 in Big East play is an improvement(cough, spit etc)……….:eek:

We run no offense, we just stand around waiting for Kemba to score.
We can't rely on Kemba to bail us out every game.
Why does this team look so lost against a zone? We should have Lamb, Jamal Coombs-McDaniel or Giffey at the top of the key.
We have no inside game - Oriakhi doesn't go up strong, TO is useless and Chuck is lost out there.
Maybe the game has passed Calhoun by.

I'm going to wait a little while to pass judgment on this team. Someone mentioned lamb , but no way in hell did he show anything till late in the year. I think ollie is going to find way to play effective small ball. 4 guys out, 1 guy in type offense. It's completely warranted to start worrying though ; once teams started gameplanning for SN+DD niether they or the team have adjusted.

Please don't remind me about what used to be our schedule.

I agree about the schedule. I couldn't help but sigh when I went to the schedule to look for one or more wtf losses. The Big East was a great basketball conference. It is a shame that was bought off bit by bit.
