Phil Nolan looks like he just made the best decision he's ever made.
And he's lefty.
Which got me thinking.
How many lefties have we had that played appreciable minutes?
I'm thinking Lyman DePriest and Tyler Olander, and then I draw a blank.
Lefties are about 10% of the world population.
Figure 10 spots, that's one for a lefty. So every 3-4 years we should have 1 lefty.
Calhoun has been coach for 26ish years. That should be about 6.5-8 lefties in the top 10 rotation.
This begs the question - have we done all we can to recruit lefties? Has the program been hurt by a failure to go after left handed talent?
EDIT - was Beverly left handed? I'm picturing his tit-high dribble in my mind and I can't recall.
