Roofs leak, especially in wind-driven rain. It's what they do.
I suppose. But how many college basketball games have been delayed by leaky roofs this year? My guess, only the ones designed by Enrico Pallazzo.

The rain was brutal lastnight. Not a big deal.
The roof was 27 years old when the interior tiles were replaced and the exterior tiles resealed.

"The project will also reseal the exterior of the roof, which has begun to wear off and cause leaks."

It was supposed to extend the life of the roof by 10-15 years but it looks as if it turned out to be only 8 years. Bad estimate? Or poor quality of work?

Did Tony Soprano's crew do the work?

It's like an Italian car - beautiful but quirky.

Roof leaks are pretty common. Fordham had one a few weeks ago, the Dunk has had them and I think Maryland had to postpone a game last year because of one.

Say that the next time you pay $25k to replace your roof and come home to water stains on your freshly painted ceiling and a huge puddle in your living room. I'm pretty sure you're going to call the roofing company.
8 years after a home roof installation, or repairs (a la Gampel last re-work)? Good luck calling many home roofing companies 8 years later.

Now with Gampel, a reasonable gripe may exist if the work was possibly warranted for 10-15 years. Minor differences. /s

I've spent $2m to have roofs replaced.

They tend to have their most impressive leaks right before you replace them - and then right after.

The entire roof was redone. All interior fabric panels replaced obviously. But the aluminum outside triangles were removed and resealed when put back in place. It was a bad design from he get go and we are stuck with it. An arena like the one in Providence would have been much better, with all chairbacks and increased seating capacity, but someone had to reinvent the wheel.
The Providence arena has had multiple roof leaks impact games. Most recent issue was in 2022 in game versus Xavier

Rain yesterday was crazy - it was pouring down, sideways, probably up in some areas with wind whipping - had a roof leak at home as well.

But roof leaks bode well for us apparently.

Honest question - is there a backup for situations like this? What if the leak hadn't been contained? Would they really have played in the practice facility, as Shaka suggested? Maybe XL is the backup (though not like that roof has an excellent track record, lol)?

The Gampel roof must have 1000 seams with all the aluminum triangles. Remember they still have a moisture problem between the white interior panels and the exterior roof that has UConn running large flexible pipes with fans to vent when events are not going on. It was shown in a Courant article regarding the money UConn is requesting for Gampel upgrades. We are pumping money into flawed buildings in Storrs and Hartford. Blow up one or the other and build a modern arena. The Providence building is much better for fans. I was at UConn from 75 to 79. The original plans showed a way different arena in the Daily campus with a higher capacity. The Gampel roof will be a problem forever.

Better Yet, Ditch The Toscano Family Forum, and build a $12,000 Multi purpose arena for Men's Basketball and Men's Ice Hockey, Like Conte forum. It's emabarrasing that a podunk college like Sacred Heart blows our hockey facilities away

Meanwhile, I bet there are roofs in Italy that were built in 1300 that still don’t leak

If you can get it built for $12k, there's probably somebody who will at least take a meeting with you. Maybe even naming rights for as little as $5k through a GoFundMe.
