It's just BS to blame her being out there later in the game for an injury. Now, if you want to say the odds increase for someone getting hurt the more they play, you'd have a point. But 29 minutes is 29 minutes, no matter when you are playing in regards to getting hurt.
Doggy
So it's later in the season, the various combinations have solidified (Geno has figured that any combination of the ten works and has coached them up):)
Maybe it's the first game of the Big East Tourney (3 or 4 in a row)
UConn is up by 55 with 14 minutes to go, the other team (lets say Rutgers) is getting really chippy and the Ref's are disinterested.
Under those circumstances, wouldn't it be good to have a coupla spare bodies to put out with Heather.
Is that so unreasonable... ? Maybe not BS?

There is one major problem with making transfers easier that has not yet been addressed.

If we can assume that relaxing the penalties would lead to more transfers, then how do coaches manage their roster sizing? If a team has eight or nine players, and two decide to leave -- the coach and players who remain are down to 6 or 7 players. And there is no open recruiting window available to acquire appropriate replacements.

Making the system easier for kids to move in and out of programs, would leave coaches (and forsaken teammates) in some really difficult situations. This would be destabilizing and detrimental to numerous teams -- and to the broader sport of college basketball.

Totally valid. There isn't really a good solution. It's more of a problem in men's bball anyway. Coaches jumping programs after having success, or going to the NBA, etc. It's not as rampant in WCBB, but I do think it is tough on players when they are recruited by one coach and end up playing for another, for example. Just one reason they might transfer. And just because they are sitting out games doesn't mean that they spend less time with the team at practices, video sessions, weight training, etc. So the idea that they can sit out a year and get used to the new campus is nice and all, but the amount of time spent on bball doesn't really change.

Don't forget, this is not just to "punish" the player, but to prevent coaches from poaching them after they've been signed and had their freshman *omigod* moments. The grass may seem greener on the other bench.

Exactly. Relax the rules, and it would have major consequences for poaching.
