I loved going here as a kid for new gear. I'd spend at least a half hour upstairs where they kept the hockey sticks looking for the best ones back when wooden hockey sticks were the only option.

what does it cost to outfit a child for hockey these days?
 
Fiance got her skates at SWA. That place has not had so much as a new nail put in it since 1987.

Yes. Construction-materials are insane right now. Though UConn is a big enough entity that it might not get gouged too much.

Final approval for the new arena and parking area by BOT is scheduled for April 28. Total budget is $77 million dollars with the arena costing $70 millions. Updated interior rendering shows chair back seating with no bleacher seating. Construction fencing scheduled to be installed the first week of May. Arena details are on pages 32-35 and pages 59-67. Looks like redevelopment of Guyer Gym and Greer Field House are on the horizon.

This is part of the plan that is necessary for the Gampel Concourse.

In retrospect 2600 seats may not be so bad... they will probably still partner with the XL center for big $ games and still sell out every home game on campus. Place will be rocking every game!
 
Notre Dame's Compton Family Ice Arena was built in 2011 for $50 million and seats 5k and is 212,000 square feet. We're spending $70 million for a 97,000 square foot facility. Why go cheap on the seats? It seems designing the arena to fit an extra 1k or 2k seats shouldn't add much cost and we're going small and expensive.

I would go with the mindset that I’d rather have full capacity and the seats be a hot commodity than play to a half full house.
Honest question, is there attendance figures for the larger B1G arenas?
 
Should have at least went with 4000 seats and then never have to play off campus again.

Still hard to believe Cavanaugh so stupidly squandered away an average attendance of around 7000.
