He needs to beef up and work on his jump shot before he is NBA ready. If i were him I would probably enter the D-league first.
 
He wasn't Tony Allen in college. How could he be him in the NBA?

Not sure if you are joking with that question.
 
It probably won't happen but the answer should be yes for Lasan, same with Niels. Both are winners and there is a very long shot that a smart franchise like the Spurs would take them 2nd round. If I'm an NBA general manager I would draft them 2nd round over a lot these talented project type guys. Still think they both make good $ in Europe.
 
Tony Allen was the big 12 player of the year at Oklahoma State and led them to the Final Four. I hope Kromah gets a training camp invite, he would have to really really work on his game to make it into the NBA, he would have to have a similar path as a Bruce Bowen.
 
Lasan is Lasan….he's not Tony Allen or Bruce Bowen.

Answer is NO but he can make some good money playing overseas and he certainly was a key to putting many smiles on UConn fans faces this past year!
 
If RJ Evans is playing overseas, Lasan definitely has a career playing there, too.
 
OK so the general consensus is no. But I don't see the arguments for no as being very strong. Yes he wasn't Tony Allen in college, but neither was Tony Allen. Tony Allen was a scorer in college and a very good one, but in the NBA he is touted for defense and watching him a bit last night against KD was amazed that at his size was able to defend really well. The argument that he needs to be bigger stronger to play in the league is correct, but every college player needs to get bigger and stronger to play at a professional level, NBA or otherwise. Tony Allen is 6'4 210!
Bruce Bowen is a good comparative. Bottom line I put it out there because well I was diagnosed with pneumonia this week and about the only thing I can do without getting fatigued is chat on the Boneyard and because we really haven't mentioned much about Lasan's future! Mau I agree with you I think he plays the summer leagues and tryouts with overseas teams where he will make money - and good money. I guess over the season, I came to really like the play of three players, Lasan was one of them. The other two were Tsam and Amida Brimah and his big smile.

The NCAA needs to be looking into how its Director can come on a national radio program and mention a specific student's name. THat should be a violation
 
While I think its a huge stretch, I can see where you sort of got the idea. I think Lasan is a better and more useful player than he was able to be for us. We had very good players that were already here and he just couldn't push them out of the way. I think he will go to Europe or Asia and have a strong pro career in which he scores quite a bit. I wouldn't be shocked to see him turn up in the NBA at some point though. I just haven't seen enough of him to know what his ceiling is when given a lot of minutes and more touches. He is certainly a good defender and pretty good with the ball. He'll need a deadly jumper, especially from 25', to get a real shot at the NBA though. A very good jumper makes a guy like him far more dangerous. He can shoot, but not well enough to open up the floor like a guy of his skill set needs to in the NBA.

Huge stretch though, huge.
 
There are about a hundred players (including marginal vets) trying to make an NBA team, many with much better talent than Lasan.

Being a 'good' bench player at UConn doesn't automatically position you ahead of the others or qualify you for automatic NBA consideration.
 
I think you may have missed how good Tony Allen was in college. Better than Lasan.
 
I didn't say he is like Bruce Bowen I said he would have to have a similar career path as him. Bowen went undrafted and played 5 seasons bouncing back and forth between different teams in Europe and the CBA and that was just to get a 10 day contract in the NBA, he bounced back and fourth on 10 day contracts for about 4 years until he got a contract from the Spurs, he is also 6'7 so that does help. Thats the exception more then the norm, it would have to be a long long long road for Lasan to even get a sniff from the NBA. I could see him having a very successful career in Europe though, the NBA unfortunately for Lasan won't happen.

age isn't on his side either as ridiculous as that sounds thats the truth, heck Sean Kilpatrick might have a difficult time making an NBA roster
 
However, I think Niels has a shot for at least an invite to the NBA Summer League.

He does so many things well. Versitle , can shoot ., rebounds great for his size and he is a hustler.

Would love to see him get a legit shot to make a roster.
 
We know 2 of our guys will be drafted for sure, would love to have 4.

Not disagreeing with the consensus in this thread, but Kromah's jump shot is 100x better than TA's was coming out of OSU. It's probably better today.

He doesn't have Tony's raw athleticism or defensive ability.

Then again, people with less skill than Kromah have made the NBA. People improve with age, and they also can get lucky in terms of situations. It's a big longshot. He'll probably make some nice money in Europe.
 
There are players in the nba that did less in college that are in the nba. I can name one garrett temple.
