Larry Scott: "Helllooooo, China! We'd LOVE to play some hoop games here! And maybe show 'em on TV!"

China: "We'll see Kobe Bryant?!"

Larry Scott: "Well, no, but we have some other excellent players who'd LOVE to come to the land of China!"

China: "Do you know Kobe Bryant?"

Larry Scott: "Well, no, but the PAC 12 would just LOVE to...."

China: "Can you go? You're scaring the cat."

The 'NAO!' killed me...

Clever move by the Pac-12, methinks. The west coast obviously has a huge east Asian population.

Hall of fame mathematical quarterbacks... with offenses putting close to a 100 pts a game...!

This is more PR than a serious plan, Ithink. Various sports leagues have tried this kind of thing, the NFL in Europe and baseball in Japan, the NBA various places. A while ago the NCAA tried to play an annual football game in Dublin. None of them work all that well. No reason to think this one will either. And they screw up schedules of the teams involved.

In response, the NBE is expected to offer an invitation to the University of 清华大学 as a full member.

Well at least no one can argue that they aren't out of the east.

It's all about apparel sales and advertising and game placement on the Fox/ESPN network Star China . It's why Scott is looking to consolidate big names only. Premium Top 10 games with Fox (BiG) and ESPN (PAC). It's a marriage made in Murdoch heaven

US NBA sales are flat. International sales are climbing driven by China. China is their second largest country for sales and dominates the sales growth. Scott is looking to partner with anyone who will place their PAC-12 product: the NBA stores, Nike stores, and other US sports chains. Logo wear of the elite brands and players is universal

And the West Coast High Tech Schools like Stanford the Chinese want to emulate and go to? The urban trend setters know where Silicon Valley and Redmond is. Try selling them Ole Miss logo wear. Or Alabama for that matter.

MIT needs a football team and a fast track to the BE.:)
