It's true: for this team to win it needs Lamb to take more shots. Just two things about his "disappearing act" in the second half today.
The first is that a lot of the credit has to go to Boeheim and the orange defense. They denied JL the ball. Everytime he caught the ball two defenders collapsed on him. When he was able to catch the ball in space, it was way out past the 3-point line. When Olander or Roscoe or Giffey caight the ball, they were wide open. (unfortunately they missed) But that was the syracuse plan. Lamb was not going to beat them.
The second point is why didn't calhoun try something different? It seemed when syaracuse figured out our sets and were able to keep Lamb from scoring, we really didn't have anything else. Calhoun had no way to get Lamb the ball where he could score.
Of course, if Olander and Roscoe hit a few shots, it's a different game.
I guess my point is, while some of the blame for Lamb's second half performance needs to rest with him, some needs to rest with coaches and some of the credit needs to go to syracuse.

When Lamb stops moving, I'd call a TO, have him chug an energy drink and send him back out there.

Looked at the game again and there were some reallty bad passes by any number of UCONN players. Several to Drummond around the ankles and I also saw three of four to Jeremy who was in position to shoot but the pass wasn't there. Our passing today was terrible

Lamb had a great play late in the second half to get his shot off. He had Drummond come out and set a quick screen on the perimeter of the zone and he came around it in the direction of the top of the key, received a perfectly timed and placed pass and put up a three. It didn't go down, but it was a good play that took only a modicum of physical exertion to set up. He would make that at least 40% of the time. Unfortunately, that was one of only three shots Lamb took the whole second half.

A loss is a loss and it's always disappointing, but I'd rather see this team go down with Lamb taking 19 good looks than nine.

I agree we need him to shoot the ball and get open......they did a great job on him, the Cuse that is and it cannot be overlooked others do need to step up on occasion.3

There was another player whom we forget about who hid for the last 2 games and it hurt also ................ Roscoe was awful. He looked scared and his 1 for 6 from the line and 2 rebounds in his last 32 minutes pretty much means he was "hiding" right next to Jeremy somewhere. I know people love to come out of the woodwork when he plays well and tell us of their ability to see where he's the "glue" to this team.......where are they the last 2.....the Elmers wasn't working and he needs to get hammered a little too with Jeremy. If he steps up at all we win yesterday, maybe even just making FT's or getting a loose ball or rebound. Strange to see him so aggressive for a few games and then WVU and Cuse take him to the cleaners??

If you watch the games even Giffey moves around more than Lamb. Easier to do when you play less minutes I know, but damn come on Jeremy!

He is certainly not the reason we lost, but if he's on point then we win.

Boat, Roscoe and Tyler a combined 4 for 20. That's tough to overcome. However, we are talking about 2 sophomores and a freshman. All will be back for 2/3 more years.

Problem with Lamb is illustrated by the fact that he regularly disappears. Against Syracuse he didn't score in the last 18 minutes. And who takes the shots withthe game on the line? Look at the West Virginia game...same thing. he scores a bunch of points but he isn't doing it with the game on the line. If he were playing for George Steinbrenner he's be a classic Mr. May. He may well have a good pro career. But I really don't think its saying too much to say he has been extremely disappointing this season.

The thing that really bugs me about Shabazz is that he settles for the deep jumper too early. Lamb's not moving? Fine. The second option, particularly vs. the zone, needs to be an attempt at dribble penetration.
One thing I noticed in yesterday's game was that our lack of size at the guard position seemed to put us at a disadvantage. When Boatright or Shabazz penetrated, they had a tough time getting the ball to the glass. Of course lack of size was never an issue with Kemba.
