Kibitzer Memorial Badass Award

No offense to those above or this page of the forum. I have to believe the KMBA was not meant to be awarded in a beat down of a practice team / game.
Totally over matched I have to believe Kib would have passed on this one. Thus taking the high road. MHRIP.............
Wondering what the point of posting this after the thread has been active for over a day

Even if there's not much on the line for the team or the central stars in this game, there's a lot on the line for the rest of them. They feel the pressure of the moment.

After driving five straight hours could I nominate mine?

No attack but I wonder why one would expect anyone to be here every day? A diehard UConn fan for over 50 decades I can't possibly be here every day. I have my view and you have yours and I respect that. I consistently see replies come in three and four days that turn into multiple pages of comments.
I stand by my opinion and comment as a fan that have followed the UConn women from the time you could see them for free.
This back in the day as the openers for the UConn men as long as you had a ticket for the men.
Not sure how to address your dislike for me. Not the first time, PM if we could clear it up.

I feel Ash Shade should be considered in every game! Her hustle, floor play and disruptive effort warrant consideration!
I agree, but the problem is Ash is so solid, so consistent, in every game, she tends to not "stick out". You know, ho-hum just another typical game for Ash. I nominated Allie because she did "stick out". Is this fair? Perhaps not.

Sounds like you’re suggesting I should modify my “No Azzi or Sarah” rule to include Ash. I’ll take that under advisement. … But if I rule out that many players on the grounds that they are pretty much always badasses (and they mainly are) it may defeat the purpose of the award. This strikes me as the most democratic of the awards in the sense that anyone has a shot at earning it on any given day, not just the superstars, the aristocrats of basketball. And it can recognize any sort of achievement. I mean, you can get it for hitting 6 three-pointers in one quarter, as Ash did against Iowa State. But you can also get it for hitting clutch free throws down the stretch, or for making a tremendous steal on a single play when it really turns the tide.

So maybe my rule is flawed from the start. Azzi is such a great shooter that it’s tempting to discount the achievement (“That’s just what she always does”). But when she chokes off an opponent with a barrage of scoring in a single half, as she did to UCLA, effectively putting the game out of reach before halftime, that is clearly badass. Just like Paige raining 40 points down on OU was. Or like when Dawn said that seeing one of Ash’s 3s just before a buzzer, her heart sank because it meant the drought UConn was going through was over. That one shot was badass. Or Azzi picking Milaysia’s pocket twice in the NC game, in plain sight of the world — now that was badass.

All of this puts me in mind of something Geno said about Ash: in high school she was the kind of kid who thought she was capable of anything at anytime on a basketball court. But when she arrived in Storrs, she was constantly looking to Geno for approval of whatever she was doing. He wanted her to remember that older mindset from high school. Because that’s the mindset of a badass. Or better, a perpetual badass.

I think we are coming at this from the same angle. What sometimes sticks out is the single event, like a certain #22 (who shall go nameless on this board) saying "get that #10 out of my face". It's not often an opposing player gives a UConn player a BA award.

When we give the main scorers like Azzi, Sarah, and Serah a rest, Geno has always needed to know how we will score points. I think the best people who could fill that role would be Allie, Blanca, and Kayleigh. I think that will be our first 8 for now. Jana and Ice will be in the mix. I think without injuries we will win the national championship and may go undefeated. We are that good.
Don't forget "ASH"!!! It will be interesting to see future
discussions of "Badass", even if we don't all agree on
any "formal" or "informal" definition. I support a
"Pluralistic" approach. CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG!!!
(a joke, son!)
