Serah Williams. Serah had 11 points in the first quarter
with two steals and one block shot and one nice "tip"
on defense (by my less than perfect box score). I had her
with 15 points at half time, seventeen for the game. Those
final two points were when she made a nice drive and bucket
(when she saw no one to pass off to). If she can is that
effective this early in her UCONN career..... NICE! BTY:
Azzie and the "other" Sarah were terrific.
BYW... Serah was also five for six from the foul line!
two assists and one only one foul.

You're mixing up Sarah Strong with Serah Williams. It was Strong who scored 11 points in the first quarter, 15 at halftime, and 17 for the game. Williams had 15 points for the game.

Thanks for the correction! Has Hamlet once said: "Thinking makes it so."
I was working off my personal BOX SCORE and .... A BLUNDER! The
official BOX SCORE did reflect however that "sErah" was still fairly
Badass with 15 points on 5 for 7 field goals, 5 for six free throws,
5 rebounds (3 OFFENSIVE!), two assists, two blocks, one steal and
a +/- of 18 with an efficiency rating of 21 (just behind "sArah" and
Azzi.) Truly amazing for someone who is "learning" the UCONN system.
IMHO this looks like the triumvirate of last year (PAIGE, SARAH, AZZI).
It will be "THE SAME OLD SONG"... but "with a different meaning since
Paige is gone". Full disclosure: Credit to the FOUR TOPS. GO UCONN!!!!

Geno, after a first half of un UCONN BB coach was surprisingly calm and positive in the half time interview. Same for almost the whole game. Seldom have I seen Geno so unruffled, it looked good on him.

No problem! And I agree, Serah Williams is a fabulous addition to this year's team ... as many of us (including you) expected. She's going to dominate inside (on both ends of the court).

One of my sons is studying engineering at the Colorado School of Mines: their mascot is a true badass bad ass

For this game- I’d go with Sarah for doing a little bit of everything - heck she even expressed some opinions in the presser! Kidding aside- she is amazing - we are so fortunate to get to enjoy watching her game grow for the next couple of years.

Serah and Sarah are going to be a headache for opposing teams. And trust me, Blanca will join that party soon enough. I love that Serah came to Uconn to win a championship, and I think that motivation alone will take us deep in the tournament next year. Im just at awe of our front court players. We are sooo deep with talent when it comes to centers and forwards, Geno finally has chess pieces to replace Jana for example if she is having a foul troubled night. Now Geno has bodies that can play the 4 and 5 on any given night. Now the pressure moves over to the back court, where traditionally we've been super spoiled on in the past. KK and Hayleigh have the ability to run this teams offense, but they have work to do to get there.

With Paige we were spoiled because we had an elite scorer, who had a pass first mentality. That alone put pressure on a lot of teams last year because they had to decide who they wanted to put the most defense to. You can slow Paige down, but azzi and Sarah were there, and if you chose to slow down either Sarah or azzi, Paige was just going to tear the defense up. This year is different with KK. Hopefully she takes pride in the pg position and becomes more obsessed with setting her teammates up for shots while limiting foul trouble for herself.

Hmmm. Has Geno reached the pinnacle and mellowed with age? No way. He is as competitive as ever. He's entitled to being calm and unruffled at an exhibition game because like all great coaches he's thinking ahead while concentrating on his mix and match combinations on the floor to see what works under different offensive and defense sets. I'm sure another side, the one the 160+ players who have worn the UConn WBB jersey have seen often enough, will be present at practice this week.

With regard to Geno, I have watched the 2 FF games a number of times and with 2 exceptions, Geno was as calm as I've ever seen him. (I guess blowouts help with that)
The 2 exceptions, 1 in each game, also provided an interesting tidbit regarding the coaching staff. JE has somewhat assumed the CD role of calming down GA. In one game, at the end of the 1st Qtr, GA looked like he was about to go off on the officials b/4 JE stepped in physically and settled him down, getting him to the TV interview.
In the other game, our favorite HC was starting to go off on KK at a stoppage of play and JE put her arms around Geno and KK to diffuse the situation. It looks like JE does more than coach the bigs!

I may have to revert to my former 'No Paige' rule this season, now with regard to Sarah. If I start giving the award to Sarah, I'm not sure anyone else will ever be able to get one. Same may apply to Azzi. Only time will tell.

Those are the 2 most likely, but remember BadAss isn't just about who scored the most. I almost would have given Jana the badass award for her play on Betts in the UCLA final 4 game. She was a total badass.

My point is I think Tasmanian Devil KK or even Serah might be the most likely if it's not one of the 2 biggies, but while I don't have the original badass definition handy, it's not just about filling up the stat sheet...

I totally hear you. It’s not about scoring or rebounds or any simple stats. Badassery isn’t so easily captured by numbers. But Sarah and Azzi do lots of other things besides what the stats typically show. Like against UCLA when Azzi scored 19 in the first half. It wasn’t about numbers or points. It was that she effectively choked them off, so much so that she didn’t need to score again. She'd handed the game to her teammates and they took it from there. That’s badass. UCLA couldn’t come back from that.

I’ll be looking for badassery especially from KK and Ash. But I have a strong feeling Kayleigh and Blanca will provide some badass games too. And Serah too, who surprisingly ends up on the floor after plays quite often. That’s typically a sign of some badassery. Whenever Dorka dove for the ball you knew something was up.

Sara..she looked like a woman playing against middle school girls...I think she may look like that all year long..she is just that good

In the exhibition game, it looked like Kevin Durant against a bunch of school yarders.

Interestingly, the UConn men's team actually has a Tasmanian player on the team this year.
