Sarah Stong. Simple as that.

HM to Ice. She has really matured this season and is providing a lot (I mean 6 assists is amazing!)

Ice was looking like Big Mama Stef (Dolson) out there. That type of vision to surround so many shooters is a luxury. Also noticed she didn’t force the 3 shot or 18-footer. Amazing effort indeed.

Sarah "silky" Smooth!!! We are soooooo lucky!
And I'll go out on a limb and say HM to KK for her defense on Flanagan, shut her down! And her drives to the basket were strong and under control with only 1 T.O. ( only 3rd of the year)

It's been difficult to pick someone other than Paige for the Bad Ass award. Not tonight. Sarah played a beautiful game at both ends of the court.
I totally agree. This probably one of the few times that Paige was outplayed by another team member. Congratulation to SARAH. Her 4 three's were a welcome sight and a precursor of what's to come.; GO SARAH!!!!! GOHUSKIES!!!!

For all the doubters out there........is it now OK for Sara Strong to continue shooting three-pointers?
Always supported her taking threes. I do prefer she takes them closer to the high post than the corner, not only for her percentage, but also how that fits into the offense.

After Sarah’s first game I wrote that “I love, love Sarah.” In retrospect, I believe that statement was premature. After some reflection, I love, love, love, love Sarah Strong.

What I love about Sarah is her poker-face affect. Geno was talking the other day about maturity being the ability to move beyond the last play, good or bad. (I think he was talking about Ice at the time.) With Sarah, no matter how spectacular the last sequence -- be it a steal, a block, a length-of-court pass, a transition 3 -- you can't read any emotion on her face. It's just on to the next play. So unusual for any player, but for a freshman . . . wow!

Morgan cheli for helping to kick start the offense in second quarter with a couple of 3 pointers
I’d give it to Sarah Strong but an HM to Morgan. In addition to her 3 point shots she showed play making skills in the half court offense and was disruptive on defense.

KK’s second half earned her third for me. Beautiful moves to the basket and really good perimeter defense. First half was a different story.

Fourth was Chen.

I felt Ice’s outlet pass to Sarah was her best play. Four of the five other assists were to open perimeter shooters who made their threes. Nothing close to that incredible pass by Sarah to a cutting Paige. Otherwise she was average at best setting screens and wandered aimlessly in half court sets until the end of the game when she made her mid range shots. She’s too good a player to be passive.

I wrote this concerned that what I wrote was inappropriate for this thread. The next thing I did was check out Geno’s post game interview and he pretty much echoed my thoughts. So a little less concern now.

I was going to this thread to say the same thing. While this wasn’t exactly a coming-out game, it certainly was a shot across the bow. If she continues to show this kind of energy, that’s a really good sign for UConn and the players who can benefit from a little more rest each game.

this has been a consistent virtue from the beginning for morgan, and it stands out. she'll have a great career at uconn, but i hope she's not now getting applause just when she makes some treys because that's really not her strength (yet). her strength -- kinda like nika -- is she makes things happen for the team. she is energy. a spark.
