Not sure who is more overpaid, Pastner or Coach K.
K's salary is absolutely ridiculous. He could find a way to win two national titles next year and still be overpaid. Pastner's kinda hilarious though.

Also hilarious that KO makes about twice Cronin makes :p

Sounds like the only thing holding it up was Warde pushing to make it harder for Ollie to leave (the buy-out clause) Thank you Kevin! I appreciate your committment to UCONN over bigger bucks! Good job Warde!

Happy. Thought he would get a little more in pay and a longer term but the man can afford a nice steak tonight.

Does this mean JC was vastly underpaid??
Happy as hell that KO signed but still needs 3 more to pass JC - time to earn the cash and get all 3 in next 5 years!!!!

Kevin Ollie has reached agreement on a $3 million annual contract extension at UConn, spurning the NBA, sources tell Yahoo Sports

It's not just Ollie's move, it's Miller and Ricky in the background. I could watch this all day.

Yeah kinda odd that JC never made as much as KO just signed for (would have finally hit 3mil in this year had he stayed on as HC I think.) Interesting that the climate has changed that much already in coaching contracts. Or its just the rockstar at work!

P5 schools are changing the game in coaching contracts. UConn is showing they are gonna try and do what it takes to keep up. A couple months back, Clemson basically doubled Dabo Swinney's contract to about double what we are paying Diaco.

JC would have made much more in recent years if he was younger. Then again, maybe not, as he has a distinct talent for rubbing people the wrong way.

I've read every post so far and not one person has complained that the contract isn't for 3 million years. What gives?

And that gif isn't just Ollie plus Miller & Moore. Hobbs is downright gentlemanly in signaling his approval.

What nice news to come home to.

The new contract will be worth about $3 million a year, and run five years.............

Ironic that was his best contract in the NBA, when he was with the Sixers. I'll never forget JC telling the story that he told one of his teams that if they worked as hard as KO did then one day they could make it in the NBA and get a contract like that. One of the kids says, "Coach, that's not a lot of money." JC just laughed and shook his head and was thinking about how delusional this generation of AAU basketball players are.

I didn't remember that movie until just now. If I ever change my avatar (I will not), it's going to be the kid.

Great news! Go figure. I had such a crazy day, this is the first I was able to take a look at the Yard all day. This should help make recruiting a lot easier. Recruits can now not only rest assured that KO will remain at UConn for the foreseeable future, but also know that they have a chance to play for a coach that not only won the NC in his second year as a head coach, but also one that was highly sought after by NBA franchises. There aren't many young coaches that have an NC under their belt plus have the types of NBA contacts that KO has.

This news is so awesome it dwarfs the fact that we aren't P5. Love this guy!

I haven't read every post so I'm sure I'm repeating what others have said but this is a great signal to the P5 that we intend to be a player (similar to how Louisville paid its coaches). We needed to do it. Well done.
