Kevin Duffy: AD Manuel has critics, but many of his moves have flourished

Many of these things that Duffy mentions as positives resulting from Warde he can't take credit for:

-Practice facility: this was well in the works before Warde got here

-The Ollie contract: By Warde NOT giving him AT LEAST a 1 year deal off the bat definitely cost us some recruits for this year and beyond. Now that Ollie finally has a long-term deal, we can see what he's capable of on the recruiting trail. Warde delayed that by a year. Not only that, Warde didn't pick Ollie, Calhoun did.

-Pasqualoni: Is Duffy really giving Warde credit for giving him a deal? Our lacking football program is largely why we can't get into another major conference.

-Logo: Again, how is Duffy giving Warde credit for this? Nike designed it and while I like it, there has been some backlash. Where's the apparel?!

Another weak article from Duffy IMO

That was a really stupid article. Pick 5 big things and make subjective opinions to prove your point. I'm sure most any of us could take every one of his points and spin them a different way to prove exactly the opposite and have every bit as legitimate an argument.

Plus the point he made about the practice facility not making the players better is ludicrous. Isn't that exactly why you build a state of the art facility - to make players better? Better strength equipment, nearly unlimited time on practice courts that don't have to be shared with the women or volley ball teams, better treatment facilities, better study areas, better ways to watch film. Sure it may also attract better players, but only because they know they can use the facility to get even better.

Basically he needed several hundred words by a deadline and produced them.

Manual definitely deserves full credit for Xavier Rathan-Mayes or Brandon Austin not being on campus next year.
XRM was still 90% likely heading to FSU, lets be honest here...

Good points here on XRM & Austin. Still in show me mode re Manuel. Cincy seems to want the next expansion spot more. As an outsider to UConn football, I'm incredulous that PP still has a job. U need a dynamic energy guy in my view. Yeah, PP could do some things positive, but isn't going to be a Brian Kelly or someone that raises the program and then moves on (still a positive).

Duffy has been slipping big time. He was a beast early on, but haven't enjoyed his work much lately.

XRM was between Illinois and FSU. He wanted to step in and start, which he would not have done at UConn.

Brandon Austin was ours if Ollie had a long term contract at the time.

XRM going to FSU stung a little bit at the time, but I wasn't upset about losing Austin. Any kid that is considering PC is clearly lacking confidence.

Brandon Austin was ours but maybe Daniel Hamilton or Kelly Oubre aren't then.......it all works out in the wash..........Next!!
Agreed, plus Austin was our fall back recruit after losing out on XRM. That probably stood out to him and was the other reason he went elsewhere.
I'll take Hamilton over Austin and day.
