In a comedy of errors, K wins...hardly deserved

When they were behind by 10 and looked soundly beaten
I almost wrote about UTenn: They lost...but when they go to film, they'll be able to figure out how to win

Should have been a pass down court to save time rather than dribble, dribble, dribble, dribble.

Yep. Like that brilliant half court assist A&M executed versus SC late in the 4th a few games ago..

So sad, too bad. Tenn fans can point to Cooper and say that Tenn is moving in the right direction. Bottom line, 7th loss of the season. Coaches poll should have them at about 23 or 24 (they were 22 last week). I'm hoping they fall out of the top 25... That would be awesome!!

On edit - Tenn can't put together 4 consistent quarters, never mind 3. They got blown out in the 3rd quarter and were down 10 in the 4th before they attempted a desperate comeback. I'm sure they put on the full court press for the lats 4 minutes of the game. All for naught. Yay!

Did anyone happen to notice the TN huddle/s those last few critical time-outs? It was pure chaos. There were committees of players here, asst. coaches there, no organization, no leadership. They're a hot mess.

I didn't make a prediction but if I had, it would have been for a close Tennessee win. They know the season is spinning away from them, and looking at the schedule, there are at least a couple more losses out there not including the SEC tourney. I believe right now they are a 5 seed. I know Creme has them as a 4 seed.

While the season is slipping away, it's going to make them more and more desperate. Almost in panic mode. Anyway, I would have predicted a Tenn win of about 60-58... Problem is not only can Tenn NOT put together 4 consistent quarters, they can't even put together 3 of them. They got blown out in the 3rd quarter and Kentucky built the lead up to 10 in the 4th before they attempted a desperate comeback. All for naught. Yay!

I think when (if) they sort out their play, determine what works and what doesn't
They are maybe top-10 or so.
If they don't figure it out, it will be a disgrace.

Battle of the incompetents. Epps dribbling the ball off her foot. Diamond passing when she should be shooting and vice versa. Bad call near the end by Kantner. Missed FT's on both sides. Just awful.

It's like Tennessee had no plan for that last play. Makes me appreciate Geno's practices where he puts the players in difficult positions regularly like down 10 with 2 minutes to go and the other team is 8 men. If you can't get it done in practice, you won't be able to get it done in a game.

On paper, based on high school rankings, they should be top 10. Either the kids they have are over rated, the coaching is horrible, there are chemistry issues on the team, or all of the above. The downward spiral has been fantastic to watch!

If you have kids who aren't as good as thought coming out of HS, coaches who not only don't know how to coach, but who don't have control of the team, and players who don't buy into the team concept, it's a recipe for chaos. Where's the popcorn?!!

I'm not sure that is the case. The ending of this game was no different than the ending of the last UCONN Stanford game. I am sure Geno had a plan and had practiced that ending also.

The ending reminded me of the first Griner game in Hartford when Steff and Bria were freshman

Surely a little of all three Eric
but tonight, they had a formula to win
looked like the better team
Went away, abandoned, what was working on offense, not only this game but the last as well.
Cooper's sharpshooting (just discovered) opened the court, gave the bigs some space to maneuver.
Even gave confidence to the others.
They looked tough
That they didn't set up some plays for her during the half-time break is criminal.
But I just don't think even they are not so stupid, that they won't see it on film.
Not as terrible a loss as some of the others.
A loss against a higher ranked team (sic)...won't lose too many places
How they rebound...if they rebound is critical

Game getting away from the Lady Vols a bit. Mercedes Russell is confusing. She has all of the tools to be a really dominant center yet she's getting outplayed by a freshmen right now.

Like all the Tennessee Centers before her.

(Which has always amazed me at how they've been able to get them year after year.)

More on DD, leads TN (12-7) at 15ppg but comes on over 100+ more shot attempts than next player (TC) shooting 40%FG, 24%3FG w/47a & 70to.
(note: actually, it's now 71 turnovers)

And the sad part is she's on every midseason list I've seen so far, while far more deserving players have been omitted.

I'll admit I had DD in my top 5 preseason but she isn't even playing at Top 25 level so far this season despite talent & her numbers show it

DeShields being on anyone's midseason POTY/AA team lists at this point is simply name recognition bc she's been bad & her team is worse.

I think Tenn would be fine over time if they get it. The reason why it wont work is because everyone is panicing. also i think they would be fine with time but i am not sure that mentally some of the girls are willing to wait. i think their problems are mental. i think Uconn will have a better but similar year next year. It happens and i enjoy the growing seasons more.

Doesn't seem much interest...Are folks interested only when UTenn plays like... the oriental expression I am not permitted to write...even with my Chinese wife's permission. :)
So we both have Chinese wives. We own a house in Huangshi, Hubei, but my wife's parents really live there.
