Ive been reading the threads lately, and wtf? We're seriously looking at Facey hoisting up 3balls now? The guy played about 2hrs all year, showed great rebounding instincts but proved to be even more greatly prone to fouling. Ive got high hopes for the kid, but we're thin down low and seemingly have plenty of potential outside threats. I wouldn't mind a stretch 4 coming in as an addition to the squad, but Im not looking to encourage Facey to be a stretch 4, we need him too much on the blocks.

In very limited time last year he hit a bunch of threes. What he is on offense and his rebounding role on Defense have nothing to do with each other. I think Facey has a huge year if he can be more stout/less foul prone.

I hear you, and I hope he can shoot and become less foul prone too. But if he's shooting 3's though, he's probably not getting too many O-boards.

He's a hard worker, seen by his limited minutes and high rebounding %. I'll wait to evaluate him until his body fills in a little more, he's 20 so I'm sure he'll do what he can to increase his overall strength. He really has to start , can't let the ball drop. He's exactly what KO wants at the 4 slot, can stick a jumper, compete on the glass, and really defend. However if he doesn't progress enough he will find himself riddled by foul trouble, landing on the bench. We need him to flourish at the 4, so KO can keep the Brimah/Nolan 5 rotation, and implement lubin as the backup 4/emergency 5.

The two guys who need to improve in order for the huskies to succeed are facey and calhoun. Calhoun i'm hoping has regained confidence.

You mean two? Out of three tries?

Yes. If you watched the games he took them in the flow of the offense, with confidence and 1 was with a hand in his face.

Look guys I'm not saying that he's Ray Allen. But one of the hardest things to do in sports is come in cold off the bench when you are not playing consistent minutes(as a freshmen not used to playing in front of 10,000 people) and uncork long jumpers with accuracy. I was very impressed with his ability to finish at the rim & shoot the rock in limited minutes. Is he going to shoot 66% from three next year? no.

Do I think it is a core part of his repetoire? Do I think he will knock them down and be a threat? yes, i think it looked very comfortable for him.

The fun part about sports is that we will find out in about 4 months.

That is the trade that every basketball team has made as the game has modernized.

It is not specific to KFace or UConn. Unless you want to play bully ball and run static sets like in the 1980s with two bigs pounding the glass, you are going to give up the chance at an offensive rebound(20%) for added floor space and shooting ability every day of the week and twice on Sundays. Its the percentage play.

Frees up driving lanes, increases motion, etc, etc.

I'm just saying two makes on three attempts isn't exactly a "bunch" imo and practice is practice. I'm not saying you said he was Ray or even DD yet, but we really haven't seen much anything from KF yet, mainly due to those limited minutes. Those flashes we saw were mostly in garbage time, remember.

And I know man, 4 until first night and 5 until the opener.

Yes, if the shooter is good enough, which is far from a given. Pick and roll, high shooter screens, and high post distribution also enhance floor spacing and free up lanes, with the added benefit that the player can crash the boards and fight on the block easier than if he were the one actually putting up the shot. I see your point, Im just very surprised to see so many posts having Facey as a stretch 4, or a 3ball shooter at this point in his career, given his extremely limited minutes thus far.

In the preseason, all of our players are basically no worse than 3rd team All Americans if you read the boneyard too much. Actually that's a fun exercise. I am going to give you the best-case scenario that I have read on the boneyard for each player as if it is their actual real-life scouting report

Here is my "According to Boneyard Scouting Report" starters:

PG Ryan Boatright - Basically Kemba Walker v2. Now that that bum Napier is finally moving on and won't hog the ball anymore, Boat is going to be like 18pts 6 assists 4 rebounds per game. He is the single best on-ball defender in the history of NCAA basketball. I expect him to challenge for Naismith POY and his heart is the size of a lion. No, the size of a conjoined twin Lion's heart. Its big.

SG Rodney Purvis - KO said this guy is a Ferrarri in the garage, so I can only assume he's the fastest player in college basketball at 6'4. From his highlights he should just be tomahawking on everyone, and he should blow away the 38% 3pt shooting he put up 2 years ago at NC State. Basically this guy is just going to do whatever he wants on teh floor on the way to 20 ppg and at least 5 Sportscenter Top-10s. Per game. Best combo guard since Ben Gordon. He was a McD's All-American so it goes without saying he should be at least 3rd team All-American.

SF Daniel Hamilton - See Durant, Kevin.

PF Kentan Facey - See any of @bmayuc posts. To get a feel, watch this video: The FUTURE OF KENTAN FACEY

C Amida Brimah - Remember the step up OK4 took his sophomore year? That's going to look baby steps. Amidas left shoulder is sling'd up so all he's been doing is right handed hook shots for 4 months. Probably break the blocks record next year after he gains 30 lbs of muscle. In two years. that's only 8.7 blocks per game, i can see that happening

You forgot that Rakim Lubin is going to replicate Jeff Adrien's performance, and Sam Cassell is going to be our best scorer. I've definitely read both of those things.

I don't know about Rakim Lubin, but Sam Cassell Jr reportedly inherited his dad's oversized... err...

lets just say he's a shotmaker.

Facey has the skills to be very productive. Last year he looked lost at times on both ends of the court. That will be his biggest challenge
