Off - season summer league / summer training footage of Facey and Omar can't get to the Bone Yard fast enough. Off seasons are brutal sometimes.

I am a worrywart but I really believe in Facey having a multi-faceted game and he doesn't have to be Daniels with other guys picking up their games.

But we do need to replace three 40%+ 3 point shooters, one of whom was DD. Boat will probably improve but we have no real idea how RP, Jr, and DHam will shoot it, and TS is not much of a shooter period at this point.

That is a different question but a good point. No way to replace Bazz' onions and clutch perimeter shooting.

I think DHam will be really good offensively. We will be different but I think Facey can post up rebound and hit threes. He will be a role player at first.

Bench player at UConn > starter anywhere else, because we win championships, coached by the best and adored by the best.
And envied by the rest...god I hate the off season.

Ive been reading the threads lately, and wtf? We're seriously looking at Facey hoisting up 3balls now? The guy played about 2hrs all year, showed great rebounding instincts but proved to be even more greatly prone to fouling. Ive got high hopes for the kid, but we're thin down low and seemingly have plenty of potential outside threats. I wouldn't mind a stretch 4 coming in as an addition to the squad, but Im not looking to encourage Facey to be a stretch 4, we need him too much on the blocks.

I don't think that Facey projects as a guy that's going to sit on the block all night. I thought that's what he was coming out of high school but he's got the potential to be a much more diverse player than that.

Sounds ok to me, but if he can average 6-7 rebs/game I'd be happier than a pig in .

The practice video of Facey shows him nailing 3 after 3 with beautiful form so if he can hit the outside shot it creates opportunities. He still will get the boards.

I'm not trying to be buzzkill here at all. The truth is DD was neither a great, nor natural PF. He played as a stretch 4, because he was a long 3 who could shoot, and we needed his length inside. I just think his play at the end of the year is causing fans to believe we need or really want a stretch because b/c we had a pretty good one last year. Facey looks like hes got a better, stronger body, and significantly better interior instincts than DD, which is why his relative value on the interior would actually necessitate that he be an even better outside shooter than DD to justify his movement off the blocks. If he can really shoot, awesome, but I think we've got shooters regardless. We don't however have other options down low, to grab his rebound if he misses.
