How did KenPom treat the 55 forfeited games under Kevin Ollie?
Spot on, thoroughly discredits these rankingsDan Hurley was presented with taking $100M from Kentucky and turned it down for $60M at UConn.
Check mate, Mr. KenPom
This is his explanation of the ratings:
I’ve updated the program ratings for another season with a new and improved formula. Past versions were a time-decay weighted average of adjusted net rating since the 1997 season with some influence from current conference strength and a dash of recruiting history. The new formula is similar, but the recruiting history now includes both transfers and freshmen (thanks, 247sports.com) and I’ve added a component of historic tournament performance.
There is only one way you should judge these ratings and that is based on which coaching job would the average human take if presented with two options. If you were the head coach at West Virginia (31st) and were offered the job Indiana (17th), would you take it? Most humans would. If you were the head coach at Maryland (19th) would you take the job at Villanova (11th)? Maybe not by secretly negotiating your exit while your old team is fighting for tournament glory. But nevertheless!

No recruiting data in the chart. And his explanation really is saying this is a ranking of the best jobs in CBB. What do you think?
Sparty is a program of limited ceiling and consistent “goodness”. They’re boring. Izzo has made no adjustments. No other program went from a top conference to the Island of Misfit Toys the way UConn. That we survived to win once never mind thrice is incredible. For all Sparty's greatness they still got waxed by 7th seeded UConn as the tournament favorite. Sparty sucks.
100%Worthless list
He’s coming out with the average shoe size per roster and how foot stability leads to efficiency. This dude must get bored as sh over the summer. Almost as useless as Lunardi’s bracketology in May. National Championships should weigh MUCH more than any other variable in there. It’s the ultimate goal for every team, every season and we’re far ahead of everyone on that list.
KenPom doesn't give credit for winning a title. Kinda like muntz.

Zona has benefitted by being the only program on the west coast worth a dime.
To me, titles should be weighted exponentially. It’s all that really matters. Runner up trophies are forgotten quickly.
Yes.Are you talking about the forfeited games where UConn effectively created “violations” to fire Ollie, ruining his career with a “show cause”, because UConn wanted to get out of a contract, and then Ollie handed UConn its ass in court?

LOL, you agree with me. I appreciate it.LOL. Fun fact: Indiana didn’t win the NBA title.
I think this is what I was thinking of. Matt Norlander of CBS Sports did this 5 years ago using data going back to the advent of the NCAA Tournament in 1939. UConn was #8 when he did this. I'd have to imagine UConn would be in the top 5 now with the same criteria. There was a list like this within the last few years (ESPN maybe?) where they gave points for how well a team did each season, including the NCAA Tournament, and then added up the points. UConn was up there but not near the top because they haven't been as consistent as Kansas, Duke, etc. Those years the Huskies missed the NCAA Tournament were an anchor on the rating. But who cares? We'll take the 6 National Championships and tell everyone to screw.
