SMU star guard Kendric Davis, the AAC Player of the Year, entered the transfer portal Monday afternoon.

Davis, a 6-foot point guard from Houston, has been one of the most productive guards in the country the past two seasons. This past season, Davis averaged 19.4 points, 3.8 rebounds and 4.4 assists while shooting 37.2% from 3-point range,

As a junior in 2020-21, Davis averaged 19 points, 4.2 rebounds and 7.6 assists, shooting 37.3% from 3. He was the only player in the country to lead his league in scoring and assists.

He’s our guy!

Would be a great "wing" man for Newton

He’s from Texas and played his whole college career in Texas. Hurley should go for it, but I think it’s likely he ends at an SEC school, or maybe a Kansas.

He was going to head back to TCU. That is why Miles Jr. returned from his testing the waters charade today faster than a speeding bullet. Big loss for TCU.

This is the kind of transfer where the kid already knows where he’s going.

e.g. Oscar Tshiebwe
so not necessarily part of a failed plan? just part of building a strong roster?

That’s not coherent. We’re talking about tampering with players.

Start over.

I think conferences should ban transfers within conference. Imagine him starring at SMU and then playing for Houston or Memphis? College basketball is rapidly becoming like the NBA.

It's worse because college players can leave whenever they want and are eligible without paying the price of sitting for a year.

Looks like he's not going far, Houston wouldn't be too much of a stretch

Memphis

What an absolute joke the portal has become. Like why would he make this move? He can play anywhere he wants including Duke, Kentucky. Memphis is under investigation, they haven’t developed anyone. Emoni Bates has regressed. Total lateral move to play for an easier coach.

Apparently Ja Morant and Desmond Bane helped recruit him to Memphis which is why he mentioned Ja in the article. The irony being Bane played for TCU

So will desmond bane and ja morant be responsible for picking Davis in the NBA draft too?

That's strange. They don't currently play for the university and never did. They play for an NBA team in that city which has nothing to do with the school. Why would Morant and Bane care at all what players go to the school? And why would Davis get swayed by them?
