IMHO Duke will be as talented as UConn next year with the recruiting class they have for next year. Duke will be loaded. .....

UConn may end up with the better starting 5, but Duke will have more talent coming off the bench.

Great pickup for them... But to say they will be as talented... I don't know about that. I do think that UCONN will be #1 and Duke #2, though (next year).

Still, as you said, a loaded roster. I'm curious to see how Jones does - she and Mo are both from Texas and some felt Jones was the better PG coming out of HS. Yeah, on edit, maybe they are pretty much as talented as UCONN. It's very close. They surely will be competing for NC's and are almost a lock for multiple final 4's...

Congrats to Duke. Duke should be number 2 UConn 1 and it aint even close. UConn has a monster roster and will continue that with Ermark and Calhoun coming in. The two big Wilson and Turner either would put UConn over the top again. If UConn gets both, everybody else is playing for second place.

I'm talking about next year, not 2014. UConn will have 9 talented players on the roster with the addition of Chong.

Looking at Duke's roster of 13 players, they lose one to graduation and have a recruiting class of 4 players. If my math is correct that's a roster of 16 players. Duke Roster - Link I'm sure it will be straighten out if it needs to be. However with that said they'll have 14/15 talented players on their roster, much deeper then UConn.

Just found out that Jenna Frush is a walk on for this year and not on scholarship.

Not sure the point. Teams will only play at the most 9-10 in a competative game.

I'll take UConn's 9 over Duke's first 9 in 2013-14.

I'll also take the starting 5 at UConn over Duke next year. And I'll take UConn's 4 bench players over Dukes 10.

So will I, but I understand why Duke is happy.

The Triangle arms race continues. Duke leaps past Tenn for the #2 class, and enough talent to keep up with the Tar Heelians.

Another blow for Tenn, as they were in the mix until the end. And I think they really could've used the size.
That leaves just Scaife on their board, and she's a G.

Looking at Duke's roster of 12 scholarship players, they lose one to graduation and have a recruiting class of 4 players. .

With the terrible injury probs they've had recently, seems like they need that full roster. Hope we don't!

Regardless of who has the better talent, there is NO WAY Duke will be able to make-up the coaching differential. Seriously, when is the last time Duke came within 10 points of UConn. But fear not Dookies, there is nothing wrong with finishing second!

Hearing RU leads for Scaife. Not really new news since I think a Rutgers fan posted that on here a bit ago. But even Tennessee fans acknowledge that RU will probably land the talented guard...

Henson, and Heckman are big question marks due to injuries. Duke should have enough depth to bring along freshman slowly.

Its amazing that Im actually more excited and follow women's recruiting alot more than on the men's side the past few years. I actually dont have any idea where Duke stands in terms of the Class of 2013 Men's class.

If it were a friday... I'd go grab a pizza and a bottle of wine... but since its a thursday... I'll settle for a burger and a cheerwine ;)

Very happy for Duke but it still isn't close in talent. Anyone thinking it is needs a double check. Plus it will be interesting to see McCallie manage the talent and expectations.

When you stop to consider that a big roster isn't always a happy roster, there is the potential to have a lot of hurt feelings and dissent when you have too many talented players and only a certain amount of playing time to give them. You might get away with it in the early part of a season but once the nitty gritty time comes, it's hard to infuse a lot of different lineups and create chemistry if too many players are used. I think that's one of the reasons that Geno usually doesn't have anywhere a full allotment of players because it would present too many issues, even though his roster size has sometimes come back to hurt him in the case of injuries.

If you guys were coming to the ACC with the Irish what great fun that would be but a real damper on the womens game.

By BE rule, it would be 2015-16, but I think they've negotiated with the conference to move it up a year so they'd start in 2014-15.

Good for Duke. I like them a fair amount. I like McCallie a lot, but I'm not sold on her coaching ability. Having said that, it's interesting that she continues to reel in the kids in spite of her 2 star recruiting assistants bolting for L'ville and UNC. Duke vs. UNC is going to be REALLY interesting the next several years...

Great pick up for the Blue Devils! I would have predicted UCLA where she would have made an immediate impact.
What this does is stack the talent on the bench for Duke!

Gunning for a National Championship is what Duke is planning and McCallie is making it possible with your talent. Let's see what happens now!

I wouldn't really call this a blow to Tennessee. The addition of Russell pretty much addressed any issues we had in the paint. Izzy is a very capable backup center. We were just missing that dominant low post scorer. With Graves and Burdik splitting time at the 4 spot, another post would have given us a logjam in the paint.

Duke also has a strong frontline, but injuries to Henson, Heckman, and now Williams leave some question marks there that Chidom and now Cooper do more than address.

I think Tennessee is likely done in this class. Of course, Tennessee wouldn't turn down Scaife, and I think she would put is a top of the class rankings, but this group of 3 is a great first class for Holly and Co.
