Katie Lou to miss WNBA season with torn ACL

Gotta feel for poor KLS. If she has had any luck at all, it's been bad (related to hoops and health). She's really due for some good things to happen health and basketball wise. Really rooting for her to keep her sanity and positive attitude thru her recovery and hope she comes back stronger than ever!

Bummer for basketball, but now she gets to hang with the lil' one. Not a bad consolation prize.

Very sorry to hear this. Lou is one of my favorite Huskies. She has had more than her share of injuries, and now this.

Now both Nika and Lou on the sidelines. Ugh.

Her husband Devin Cannady overcame a devastating leg injury a few years ago. I am sure he will be a huge source of strength for her.

Huskies for life.

Former UConn star Katie Lou Samuelson managing ACL injury with WNBA teammate Nika Mühl by her side

Samuelson said both Horston and Mühl have been incredibly supportive in walking her through what to expect from surgery and rehab.

“They are really, they're great,” Samuelson said. “And, you know, I joke around with them that I didn't want to join their club, but I am grateful that they're a part of my journey now, and that I have people to lean on and just ask specific questions.”
Samuelson added that Mühl, specifically, has been present for her since day one of her injury and remains a solid source of support.

“Nika was there, right on that table next to me, right through the whole process of testing things out,” Samuelson said. “I really appreciate her. We make sure to check in on each other every morning.”

I feel so sad for Katie Lou. It seems that she has been so snake bit. I think about Covid taking her off of a gold medal winning 3x3 basketball team. Just heartbreaking.

I'm glad she has good support around her. There's always another reason to like Nika isn't there?

If Nika isn't the prototype best teammate I honestly can't imagine what could make her better. Even while getting so few minutes last season on the Storm she remained engaged, hyping up her teammates and celebrating every small victory. Rather than dwelling in her own frustration at not being given the chance to contribute on the court, she chose ( and continues) to find and freely share joy!

Wishing Nika, Katie Lou (and Jordan) complete recoveries and successful returns to playing the game they love.
