That's not what they do though. It's crazy they actually claim 6 national championships. It's one of the great basketball schools but this is pathetic and it cheapens them.I was there from 1991-94, before we won any, and the Helms banners were up then. I think it is ok to hang them and display the plaques but not as "National Champions" as if they count the same.
They are understandably proud of the role they play in college basketball history. Naismith coaching and then Phog Allen, who coached two Kansas kids named Adolph Rupp and Dean Smith. So was effectively the origin point of all three of the winningest programs all time.
