Mullins defense is also really good. He's often referred to as a shooter because he's so good at it but he's a complete basketball player. Knows how to navigate screens, shoots on the move, floaters, knows how to use the glass. Quick with everything he does both physically and mentally, a competitor. Enjoy him for this season before he's in the NBA.
He closes out very well on shooters with height and length to contest the shot. His length seemed to affect their shooters a bit tonight.

Great win against the only team that’s really had our number.

Our D in the second half was great; although their offense without DP is iffy, they were getting and making open shots in the first half. And our offense was good enough against a good defensive team.

Mullins and Reibe scored 29 of the team’s 61. And Mullins calmly sinking the front end of the 1 & 1, beautiful.

I like how the Kansas board is more interested in taking shots at Hurley than praising the defense of their players. We were getting mismatches, but it seems like we struggled to get the ball to the mismatched players.
That's actually what I'm most concerned about. We weren't able to get the ball into the post. It won't matter how good Reibe and Reed are if the guards can't get the ball to them

if Silas can become the player we expected, then watch out.

really hoping he can gain confidence during our conference schedule. that talent is there so just seems mental at this point.

The T-New2 prophecy of analogues for Silas says he gets his second triple double against St. John’s at MSG this year.

He plays long and to his size on defense. Which is good.

Mullens opens up our offense by having a player to run action for also can create his own. Reminds me of Hawkins. Seems strong on d too, very quick to close out. Poor game from Silas but his first so giving a pass. Eric will be special.

Totally agree - he’s making smart plays too.

I honestly don’t know where we need Stew once Mullins starts. He legit brings nothing we need as I’m yet to understand what he’s good at.
He can back up Karaban for 5 minutes a game. LOL!

3-1 so far in our high-quality OOC matchups.

On to the trap game, then UF. UF isn't great but their bigs are a problem. Hope Reed is back by then.
As long as he’s not a GTD

Braylon is getting a lot of love for good reason, but wow was I impressed with Eric tonight on both ends of the ball. 12-8-2 blocks in 31 minutes! He made a great defensive play rotating over to force a miss on Kansas' last possession.

Also... Braylon knocking down those two FTs to ice the game shows what he's made of. Reminded me of Boatright's first game against FSU (after serving his suspension). We were also top 5, and he got fouled on a three-pointer with seconds remaining. He calmly made all three to force OT, and then we won it in overtime.

Huge W for the resume.

That’s the 5th time we played Kansas. We’re now 1 win and 4 losses. Of the 5 games played, how many were played in Kansas?

1 game at Phog, 1 game at Kemper before tonight
1 in Hartford
1 in the tournament

I think Stew was contributing well in other ways, but when we desperately needed offense, Mullins brought it. After that, I think Stew’s second half minutes went the way of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” while we were turning the tides. He’s still got a lot to offer this team even with a healthy Mullins and we’re still gonna need him to make it where we all want to see this team go.
Stew is playing as well as he can but he is mistake prone / turns ball over / esp 2nd half of game and when his shots are not falling we have better options outthere.

It was smart to sit him 2nd half. Got to go with best players on the floor. I like Ross over Stew starting.
