Love it! And including "the best version of herself both on and off the court" is an important part of the picture, and one I'm sure she picked up from Carla. Building character is an important part of Geno and CD's vision for the program.

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but has Sarah Strong sent in her signed LOI? I don't recall seeing any announcement like this?

Wondering the same thing. #20 is available.

Speaking of jersey #s, I'm guessing Kaitlyn (20), Mo (13), Allie (10), Sarah (21)
So is #42... but I'm hoping they're saving that for a big..

The best change in our lineup with Kaitlyn coming next season, IMO, will be allowing Ms. Buckets to spend more time as a shooting guard which might allow her to continue the more "selfish" approach that Geno has been imploring her to take on and which was evident in her leading the team to the Final Four.

As great as many of the other scorers on the team may well be, Paige is simply unique in her skill set and we need to see her continue to be more and more aggressive in my opinion.

Yet another high quality character kid joining the program, even if only for 1 year. Really excited for her experience, maturity, and PG depth. Totally different style from KK, but having 2 really good PG's will be great for playing 40 minutes of high quality basketball each and every game.

Really looking forward to seeing her suit up and play!!

This young woman was an honorable mention all-American. I can’t imagine a scenario where she isn’t starting.
You mean with Paige, Azzi, Jana and Sara come March? Depends on what Coach G would like to emphasize: balance between defense and offense or more offense and react to the flow for defensive adjustments. KK and Aubrey strengthens the defense for whatever coverage Coach G wants.......so, if balance, then one of them could start. Then again, maybe Ms. Chen is good at defense as well - we just haven't seen it.

We shall see.

Kaitlyn, Loved your games against the COLUMBIA LIONS...... "Play it again, Sam", (ah... I meant Kaitlyn)!
Well to the Husky Family!

Don't forget who Kaitlyn's coach was at Princeton.

On the court, Chen says that her biggest adjustment from high school to Princeton was perfecting Coach Berube’s suffocating defensive scheme. As a player that is known for her quick transition offense and explosive ball-handling skills, Princeton’s system demanded Chen to contribute on the defensive end as well.

“We [at Princeton] pride ourselves on our defense,” Chen continued. “So, it takes a lot of time and effort and focus during practices.”

As a result, Chen is playing the best defense of her collegiate career, averaging 1.2 steals per game and fitting seamlessly into the well-oiled Princeton defensive machine

From 2-22-2024 CT Inside,

A source confirmed to CT Insider that the Huskies have interest in Chen with a second source confirming that Berube has spoken to her former college coach, Geno Auriemma, about her star. With the possibility, perhaps probability, that UConn's Nika Mühl will not use her final year of eligibility, Chen could move into that vacated guard spot next to All-American Paige Bueckers, who announced her decision to return to UConn next season on her Senior Night.

Is she going to start in front of Azzi or Paige? She will play but starting would rely on someone not being healthy enough to play and I hope that is all behind this group of players.

If I ever find that lamp offering 3 wishes, one will certainly be to read Geno's mind. We all know the expression, "What was he thinking?" I'd ask that question about taking Chen. Even if she starts, someone is going to get squeezed out. Maybe Geno doesn't think that any of his guards are "complete," and he's looking for one that is. Chen might be the answer, but I suspect that any way you slice this salami, in the end, it's just salami.
BUT let me say the obvious: the current team is very young. Maybe coach wants a veteran hand to be in control at the point. With Carla giving him the lowdown, Chen may be just the thing. Also the transferee is only going to around for a year, so the young guards can still hope to ascend in their second year. That makes the bench a bit softer on the tush.
There: now I talked myself into taking Chen. Great move, Geno.
