Well, I guess ESPN's evil plan is working then.

Supposedly Muffett was at one of her Kaela's recent games. How she got an "in" with ESPN I don't know.;)

I think Muffett is recruiting one of Davis' teammates (Nelson?). Of course, she could be interested in Davis as well.

Seriously? Sounds like Muffett is getting an offer ready, or maybe has already offered.

South Carolina's up 23-19 on Tennessee right now. The SEC is going to up for grabs for the next several years like never before.

Game is in Knoxville. If the LV's lose this game, it will be a very bad day in orangeland.

Schools we can expect to go after her hard: everyone in the SEC especially KY, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina; in the ACC, UNC, MD, Duke, Miami; in the BE, Louisville, Rutger, ND. Maybe Baylor, Texas, etc. on the B12. Pretty much everyone who thinks they can get her. But I don't see UConn going after her unless there is a tie in with Diamond.

If Davis chooses to sign with another school, that school and its coach could very well challenge UConn and Geno as the most hated on ol' Rocky Top. It'll be a given that the coach engaged in negative recruiting and took advantage of Summitt's condition.

That talk has started already. Guns are being aimed at Muffett who attended one of Davis' games recently.

Pairing her with Jewell Loyd would make a pretty potent combo........ hypothetically of course

You're good . . . the first such accusation has already been fired.

But . . . I'm not sure that if this was our coach and team we wouldn't be looking for the nearest scapegoat to kick too.

Another sad situation for TN.

As I mentioned above, I think ND is recruiting one of Davis' teammates. I think the last name is Nelson but I don't know much about her.

No doubt about that.

A few thoughts on this topic.

#1--Not surprised...at all.

#2--LSU and Nikki Caldwell was the first thought that entered my mind. I have NO idea if there is any interest in either, just a thought!

#3--As far as recruiting goes, Tennessee will be fine. NOW, let me clarify. They will get recruits. No doubt about it. However, those recruits may not be the top 25-50 recruits the Vols have gotten in the past. The program may have to cast a wider deeper net to collect recruits.

#4--Time will be only thing that tells how all this will play out. This is more about Pat's illness than the recruitment of a 17 y/o girl. This just may be the start of a long domino effect.

GO UCONN!!!!!!

Was just reading through some recruiting threads on our board... and it mentioned that Davis chose Tenn over UGA, Duke, and UCLA. Then again.. that was in the summer of 2010... no idea if these schools are ones she would consider now.

define "fine". if tennessee isn't landing at least 1 and more likely 2 top 10 recruits, their fans consider it a failure. i think UCONN fans feel the same way. Tennessee fans would not consider getting a bunch of top 25-50 kids as "fine". 1 top 10, 1 top 20 and 1 top 3o at a minimum...

"fine" meaning they will get recruits! Just may not be the ones they are used to getting in the past. I dont think that Tennessee will have any problems getting players 50-100 or even outside the top 100.

If you cant get the top talent you just have to work your way down the list. That may be what happens. The fans may not like it, but it could very well be the dilemma.

So ND is recruiting her 6'3" teammate named Nelson. Last year they had Bruiser. Now they are recruiting a Full Nelson.

top 10 recruits who have NOT chosen Tennessee in the past year'ish...

Bria Smith #8 (L'ville)
Elizabeth Williams #2 (Duke)
Alexis Jones #3 (Duke)
Rachel Hollivay #8 (Rutgers)
Alexys Vaioletama #14 (USC)
Jewell Loyd #4 (ND)
Jordan Adams #6 (USC)

also i think Malina Howard eliminated Tennessee when finalizing her choice between ND and Maryland. and were they on Imani Stafford's list? they do seem to cast a pretty wide recruiting net.

did i miss anyone? i realize not all those kids had tennessee in their final 2, but that's a boatload of kids saying thanks, but no thanks, to checkerboard square...

as a side note, would love to see her end up at Kentucky, L'ville, ND or Duke. Duke has been on a tear recruiting wise and it would be fun to have the kind of quality rivalry we had with Tennessee back in the day, and to have that kind of rivalry, you need sustained excellence for many years in a row.

Don't think Kaela considered any other schools besides Tenn. She and her family have been friends with Candace Parker and Tenn was her dream school. IMHO she could still end up at Tenn, if Tenn designates their future head coach at the end of the year and that person was acceptable to Kaela and her family. I suspect Kentucky will start to recruit her heavily. Don't see that Kaela would ever consider UConn.

I wish she would stay there.
Better than her winding up at Duke.

Which leads me to my earlier post. Nikki Caldwell was @ UCLA in 2010. I think LSU and Caldwell has a shot @ her. Just a hunch.

LVs need to figure out the coaching situation. They have a good brand, great exposure and facilities, and they devote lots of resources to WBB. But right now, if you're a 16 year old recruit, you don't know who's going to be your coach when you arrive in Knoxville, much less when you leave. That's a problem.

Candace Parker is Davis god-sister, Davis is originally from Chicago from where Parker is, she moved to georgia couple years ago ... Candace Parker was probably part of Davis decision to commit when she did commit IMO

I think if she does end up somewhere else (likely), it will be out of conference. Not sure the thought of suiting up against the LV's every year--possibly twice a year plus the SEC tournament--would be a pleasant thought for her given the personal connections.

Going to another team, she would likely play them once a year but no more.
