To kill some time waiting for Thursday’s games, turned on this special. It sure brought back memories. Great teams, great coaches, great players and great success in a blink of an eye. Our time would come much later than this, but for this time capsule, it couldn’t be beat. I wish the league could bring back that mojo.

It was done by a Georgetown alum and they went well past the era of UConn's ascension and they somehow managed to completely ignore UConn. It wasn't an 80s only thing.

That doesn’t erase the fact that Big East basketball was much watch tv when UConn wasn’t relevant. So we had a few shining moments against Duke in the early 90s tourney but it would another decade before we won a title.

???

Are you serious?

UConn was ranked top 10 yearly throughout the 90s.

They got to top 5 in 1992, ranked 2nd at the end of regular season and conference tourneys in 1994, ranked #1 in 1995, 3 at the end in 1996, 6 in 1998. They had the best run of ANY Big East team that decade.

Sounds like FearThePups is a pup himself. We dominated the Big East in the 90's. The omission of UConn was intentional and absurd.

.-.
Creative way to omit UConn by building the whole thing around the final OBE tournament. “But…but…but…UConn was banned from that tourney so how could we have possibly included them without screwing up the whole concept….”

He really gave away his age with that nonsense he spewed. "we had a few shinning moments vs duke in the early 90s? We played them in 90 and 91 and lost both times.

No question.

Georgetown was the Big East team of the 80s.

UConn was the Big East team of the 90s.

UConn was the Big East team of the 2000s.

Some of you people are so sensitive. The documentary was about the inception of the Big East and the established basketball schools at that time and UConn wasn’t one of them. And no, I’m not a pup and recall we played in the mighty Yankee conference before the invite to the old Big East. The documentary didn’t go past the 1990 and 1991 seasons, which was before our successes you mentioned above

And how many national titles?

That's not even what the documentary says it was.

Yeah, to the same Duke team in the 1990 championship final and the 1991 Duke national championship team. Those were pinnacle accomplishments for our program at that time. Why do so many of you have an inferiority complex because you still think to this day we were disrespected back then when we had won nothing.

The TV media was enamored with thug ball and “personality” coaches. Georgetown had both, Syracuse and St. John’s had “the nose”and “Little Louie” with the dopey sweater.

Made for TV. Vince McMahon probably loved Big Monday.

If they were going for accuracy, they should have titled it "Requiem for the Georgetown/Syracuse Rivalry."

It is interesting to wonder what the whole college landscape would look like today if the Big East had let Penn State join
And if Rutgers came instead of Seton Hall. Didn't they turn down an invitation?
