Because we're in Florida, we almost never get to see the Huskies play, but this year I decided to take in the Big East Tournament. Years ago -- more years than I care to admit -- Byers would get together at the halftime of a given game, just to chat in-person and, for those of us out-of-towners, to attach faces to names. Does anyone ever still do this? I've been on this board for years, met a few BYers years ago, but don't think I've ever laid eyes on anyone who's active now. Just wondering.

Florida (Sebastian here), it's where all the old UConners (1965) go to retire (and get warm this time of year).

I'm north of Tampa, so if anyone is traveling here, say, for the first week of April, I'd be game to do a meet up. :D

I'm in Vero Beach, so south of most of you guys. But I probably was unclear: I was actually talking about a meet-up at a game. I am going to all the UConn Big East Tournament games, and I have to assume there will be at least a few BYers at some of them. DO members ever try to arrange a time and place to meet up. Many years ago, I participated a couple of those at XL (there I go, I almost called the Civic Center). Someone would set a location for a brief meetup at halftime, and there was a lot of handshaking, greeting newcomers, and sharing stories. I'm not sure there is a single person I met back then who is still on the board. Anyway, that's what I was thinking. It's just a real opportunity for those of us who live far away to attach faces to names.

So...do you ever do stuff like that?

There used to be meet ups at home games. I'd walk by, too shy to say hi. Don't know why they stopped. However, when I recall the image of that nefarious crew, I wouldn't be surprised if law enforcement was involved. :D

Glad to hear that I’m not the only walk by too nervous to stop by

Hallandale Beach, just south of Ft Lauderdale and Hollywood. We've attended a couple of games in Tampa vs USF, and one at Columbia vs SC.

I'll be the gnome in the UConn hat. :)
Maybe a Sunday meet up?
In the past, folks gathered at intermission at a spot. I'll hunt one downwind post the invite.

I will be at the second game of the NCAA at Gampel, whether Sunday or Monday, and would love to meet any fellow BYers at halftime.

The second game? Not the UConn game? As I understand it, UConn plays in the first game Saturday and (assuming a win) Sunday. Monday there is only one game.

Well, I would set a time and place, but I don't know the arena, so I don't know where an appropriate spot would be. So Let's say Sunday at halftime of the UConn game (Which I believe is the first one.). You tell me: Where's the place to meet?

Yes, UConn would only play one game on Sat, Sun (if they win Sat) and one game on Mon (if they win Sun).
However Fri has 3 consecutive games, Saturday is 2 sessions with UConn the first game in the first session at Noon.
Sunday has 1 session and 2 games stsrting at 2;30 and Monday is a night game at 7:00 Championship game.

I've been to a few games on both sides of away games. I live in NJ so MSG, Pru Center, Brooklyn are fairly easy and I fly 3-4 times a year for far away games for both men and women's.

In every game, I just ask a little about boneyarders and have meet 20-30 and we share stories about dorms, teams, being student athletes, etc.
