Are they a package deal? 247 has them at 43 and 52, and their suitors as the same (all cool). If it made roster sense, could totally see Hurley bringing them both in - probably a lot easier to retain them as package deal. Not sure you'd get a lot of variation in their game as Hurley likes with the 5's.

He basically questions whether Uconn keeps recruiting Mingo with County on and Landrew in the fold, as it could be crowded given the possible returners. Question is whether Fink knows something or he's just throwing out hypotheticals.

The longer it goes and the more crowded it does get, it would seem pretty clear our chances with Mingo go down as well. Unless Hurley has him 100% reserved as a starting 3, which I question, this feels like it will die on the vine. I don't think Hurley is going to want to spend time recruiting once the season starts, especially for a marginal starting OAD.

Considering the people who matter have said we're going to keep recruiting Mingo it seems safe to say we will. I also have no idea why you keep pushing this nonsense about him and this class being overrated. He would literally be our highest rated recruit ever. Above McNeeley, Castle, Mullins, Gay, everyone

I think that’s the point. He’s not actually a better prospect than most of those guys. The class is very lackluster outside of the top 3.

But man Stokes offensively might be the best prospect this decade. If he had Flagg’s motor and defensive mindset he’d be #1 in general.

Do I need to send you the evaluations on the 26 class again? It's seen as an incredibly weak class. A kid ranked 5 in a great class does not equal a 5 in a weak class. Or should I show you the 23 class and where most of that top 20 is now?

As mentioned, many wouldn't even consider Stokes (runaway 1) top 5 in last years class as he would be behind AJD, DP, Boozer, Ament, etc. Really flawed class - just because Mingo is ranked 5-6 doesn't mean he's some slam dunk superstar that you can plug in right away as a starter at Uconn.

I'm not talking about rankings. I'm talking about the composite ratings. Something that 247 uses to compare players across classes, and he's rated higher than every single player we've ever gotten. I understand a few people have said the overall class is weak, you've only reminded us 800 times in the past 2 days. That is completely separate from the fact that Dylan Mingo is a star

Is it actually the consensus we’ll keep recruiting Mingo with Landrew in the fold? They’re sorta competing for the same role on next years team, considering I don’t think we’d start 2 freshmen.

Oh I disagree. Stokes would be my #1 even last year. But that’s my opinion.

6’7 230 with dunk in traffic athleticism and averaged 24 and 11 in EYBL on 50+% from the field and 40+% from 3. Kid is going to be elite elite.

His teammate Crower is a bucket too. Super smooth game. I don’t think he’s cracking that top 5 though and he’s 3 in this class.

I'm not paid large sums of money to make those calls, which is why I trust the people's opinions who are. I'm also never discussing Steph Castle with you, I'm well aware of your opinions regarding him. So have a great night

Interesting way to admit you don’t know what you’re watching to form an opinion of your own.

Don’t even know how it’s a conversation about who is a better prospect. That’s no disrespect to Mingo. You just put him in a class he didn’t need to be in.

I have plenty of opinions, I think you of all people know that. I'm just also humble enough to know that these people paid to scout basketball players know a hell of a lot more than me. So when they say Dylan Mingo is an elite prospect, and the tape backs it up, I trust them

Mingo is unanimously referred to as a OAD whereas landrew has been described as a project and not a OAD so I don’t think they’re competing for the same role in next years team

But To Finks point Maybe staff thinks there’s a decent chance Mullins isn’t a OAD so they’re willing to see how the season plays out. If Mullins returns great, then there’s no room for Mingo. If Mullins goes pro ok too, they’ll look for a starting wing in the portal unless Furphy shows he can be that guy

OAD is relative to class as well.

Here’s an article from Finkelstein, who I see as top in the area. He sites it as a class with some long term developmental talent, but not one with a lot of talent that will drive “winning” immediately. That’s the kind of OAD talent I’m staying away from. lives in CT and ran NE recruiting before CBS - if he's questioning Uconn's pursuit of Mingo, I'm listening. There is no one better at reading the tea leaves locally at a high level.

Personally don’t think Mingo will want Hurley’s system as have read multiple times that his best fit is a drive and kick system, which is not Hurley. Oats runs that religiously with tons of reps, or I can see him going to a Baylor (who pays). Kid is a heavy on ball profile. I don’t see Hurley ever handing the PG keys to a freshman, and we should have one already anyway. I don’t think Mingo will want to play the Castle role, at all. He’s a OAD in a weak opportunistic draft, with a bad jumper and my guess is he’ll want to showcase his PG and on ball skills somewhere else. I don’t think this is the type of profile Hurley matches up well with from a 5 star OAD perspective. He’s better with the catch and shoot first profile as the system will highlight strengths. Thats me - my guess is if we grab Landrew this dies off, let’s see.

The 2026 high school class doesn't have the high-end star power of some previous classes. With rev share and transfer portal playing such a big role, college programs could pivot strategies for this cycle.

I don't think Landrew is a day 1 starter. Probably a 7th/8th man getting those 15-20 minutes a game as a freshman and building up to a breakout sophomore year.

Mingo is definitely a starter.

Big strong kid with wingspan, heavier than Stew at same age. I could see him being used in some 4 backup duties, mixing in at the 3 and easily getting 15-20.
