Shane Laflin on some players he will be coaching soon:

Imari Berry – 2024 | United Family

Berry is as talented with the ball in her hands of anyone in the entire country. She has such smooth movements and body control to find scoring opportunities, it is hard to stop. She has deep range on her three-point shot and can really dance with the ball in one-on-one situations. She sees the floor very well and zips passes when defenses collapse. Once she becomes a real student of the game in terms of attention to detail defensively and consistent effort and intention to contribute on that end, she has a real chance to play for a very long time.

Sarah Strong – 2024 | Lady Strong (Independent)

Sarah Strong is arguably the most talented player in the 2024 class. She is strong and incredibly skilled. Strong is a high IQ player that sees things two or three plays and actions ahead of time. Her ball handling and shooting ability at her size are incomparable in the class, but her main calling card might just be her passing ability .. she will drop a dime on you!!

Brynn McGaughy – 2025 | META Hoops

McGaughy is one of the hottest names on the recruiting Trail this summer. The 6-foot-2 forward is comfortable all over the floor. The combination of her strong frame, overall skill, and power and jumping ability make her a rare find. She can handle the ball and will surprise you with her right to left shake to create space. She is a knock down three-point shooter as well.

Emilee Skinner – 2025 | Utah Prospects

Skinner is a leader and a point guard and she carries herself as such. She brings a seriousness and maturity to the floor as soon as she crosses over the line. Skinner is gritty and tough and plays to win – evidenced by her focus and intensity on both ends of the floor. She is in attack mode with the ball in her hands and she creates shots for others and ignites the offense better than most in the class. As a 6-foot PG, her size is a valuable asset at the lead guard spot as well.

Rieyan Desouze – 2026 | Team Lex Nation

Desouze is a PG who sets the tone with her steady outlook and ball pressure. She has a shifty handle and changes pace very well. In transition, she’ll push the ball quickly down court and does a good job with engaging the defense to create for others. She utilizes ball screens well, and as she learns to read the manhy defensive rotations she’ll see over the course of her career, watch for her to become a sharper PG. Over the course of the last year, she has added some strength which will contribute to her player development.

I've never read an evaluation like this for a front court player. Without knowing the player, anyone might think she was a pg.
If this is an accurate description Geno has to be going very hard to land her.

She's kind of a bigger, better shooting, better inside version of Ashley Owusu, late of Maryland now at Penn State. Excellent passer.

Looks like we are not on the radar for Kate Koval.

SI article on Kate Koval
Before jumping to conclusions, note that the author of that Sports Illustrated article is Zack Nagy. He is the Managing Editor and Publisher of LSU Country, a Sports Illustrated publication. So, where do you think the positive aspect of that article is directed? Koval lives around the corner from UConn and can drive here any time with little planning or expense. Believe she has already made an unofficial visit. Her recruitment status is still wide open.

I'd take McGaughy and Skinner right now along with the 6-5 Layla Hays from Alaska and call it a day. That might only leave room for Robinson and the Big O in '26. Is that asking for too much?
Has UConn offered McCaughty yet? She has publically stated UConn is her dream school. With 2 years to go she may grow another inch.

Probably not since they prefer to wait until they've seen a kid play in person and I'm not sure they've seen McGaughy yet. The kids usually put it out on social media when schools offer them. And UConn won't/can't comment about it anyway. But I believe they are following McGaughy on SM.

I've read 2 or 3 sources saying we have no chance. Do I pay them any heed? No. In truth, beyond enjoying finding out who the lusted after players are, I'm content to wait for the big reveal.

Currently has offers from Ohio State, Arizona, Rutgers, BC, Providence, others. Followed by CD and Kelis Fisher

Koval is 6-4, the same height as Olivia Vukosa. At the rate these media sites keep inflating her size, she'll be 6-9 by the time she gets to a college campus.
Koval’s Twitter page says she’s 6’5”. I don’t think Koval would mislead people about her height.

What’s taking UConn so long to offer her? We can’t afford to loose her corners.

I like the block where she just tips the ball up and then grabs it. Much better than the big swat that just allows the opposing team to reload.

Who knows? I'm sure they had initial contact with her at least as far back as a year or so ago. Could be as simple as lack of interest on either Koval's or UConn's part. The WBB Blog, which is usually fairly accurate, doesn't list her as a player of interest for UConn. Beyond Cheli and Ziebell, they list only 5 others and of course Fournier is gone to Duke. Strong, Cambridge, Berry, and Carlton are the remaining 4. I can't link to the site.
