The 6-foot-2 Perkins was to have visited UConn after the NIke Point Guard Academy at Kean University, but he hurt his back and postponed the visit.
Randy said they would likely visit UConn in August now.
“He was scheduled to go to UConn his past weekend, but when he got banged up he said, ‘I need to rest,’” Randy said.
“Coach [Kevin] Ollie said, ‘We’re going to make sure it happens. Make sure you don’t commit until you visit.”
He added: “Coach Ollie has been so spirited in his efforts to recruit Josh. He was recruiting Josh when he was just an assistant. Now that he has has taken the reins he has put a fullcourt press on Josh. It’s pretty exciting. He’s an engaging, spiritual coach.

“It’s a kid’s dream to play for Coach [John] Calipari and play for Kentucky,” Randy said. “However, if or when the offer comes, he won’t make a decision until the dust settles.”

Call me crazy but I think we have a very realistic shot at landing this kid.

I know it shouldn't, and I shouldn't be so judgmental, but any time a kid says Kentucky is his dream school, or honestly, even if a kid is seriously interested in Kentucky, it makes me think less of their mental make-up as a basketball player. I just don't understand how a kid could be interested in playing for both John Calipari and Kevin Ollie. They couldn't be any more different IMO. I feel like UConn and Coach Ollie are that nice, polite, humble kid that you want your daughter to date, and Kentucky and Calipari are that dirtbag waiting outside in the driveway beeping his Mustang that he bought from selling crappy weed, waiting to knock your daughter up.

That said, I hope this kid comes to his senses and ends up in in a UConn jersey. He can ball.

Reminds me of the Doron Lamb and Brandin Knight situation. From everything we heard it was btw UConn and UK. We all know how that ended. We proved we didnt need them after we beat them in Maui and again in Houston capping it off with a national championship.

Dude, these kids are 17 or so. They were 13 when Cal started at UK. What the hell do they know? I mean, none of them has a clue he coached at UMASS. Most probably don't know he was at Memphis. They probably think he's been at UK forever. Hard to fault a kid for that. Plus they don't have any of the preconceived biases (whether earned or not) that we have.

I was more just saying it to get to my line at the end about Ollie and Calipari, but I catch your drift. I know it's unfair, I was a complete moron at 17, but I can't help it. I hate Kentucky and the squid.

I had the same thoughts as HobokenHusky, but intlzncster, is correct. At the end of the day, at a level like Perkins, basketball comes first. Some may say academics, but their true goal is to get into the league. All they have seen from Calipari is him creating an environment for them to do exactly that. So to them, he looks like a good guy. Now to us, people who understand his slimy background and true motivations, that's another story. Hope KO can lock him in.

It's not the slimy background many here speak of, it's the "environment" you speak of for the next level. It's not real......he's taking Top 20 kids who could go to Monmouth and still be a lottery pick after 1 year of college, and making people/kids believe it's him - it's NOT. Many of those "studs" have not been very good at all when they have began the next level, some already out of the league.

But hey they're 17-20 yr old kids who hear and see what they want.....hell I have one!

Stop being rational- we are happy to make up until the Squid gets the death penalty for Uk's program.

The problem is, just like with UNC and even Duke, the NCAA doesn't want to catch them. And even when something as blatant as UNC's academic fraud falls in their lap, they refuse to punish them. UK appears to be doing as they please with little interest from the NCAA.

Yeah I agree. I guess I should have said "illusory environment"? Anyway it "appears" to be a pro-building factory and he "appears" to have ties with some of the big cats in the NBA. So I guess that is what I meant. For whatever reason, to the majority's eyes, he has a lot of credibility and is highly regarded. I don't agree with the notion but it's true that the notion exists. As for 17-20 yr old kids, I was in that range 3 years ago, so I know what you mean...Sir ;)

It's difficult to conclude much from a kids mix tape, but I think the court vision he displayed in that video is generally a more translatable skill. From what I saw in that four minute clip, his feel from the game is very advanced - it looked like he was able to see plays unfold before they happened. Kendall Marshall-esque, IMO.
