Guess who took home the MVP?

22 points (7-9 fg, 8-9 ft), 13 rebounds, 4 steals

Wow that's great. It looked like the West was going to win big. I had to leave during the first half and just got back. Hope they will re-broadcast.

It'll be archived, plus the Huskygames site might upload it too.

Without your post I'd have to guess because ESPN felt the need to cut off their broadcast before ever showing it.

Fuller says KLS' injury is an elbow, but that she should be ready for U-19 trials.

Very fitting.....A HUSKIE recruit takes home the MVP Trophy of the Inaugural Classic.

I agree with TF. Collier plays much taller than she looks. She's versatile and active, not afraid to mix it up amongst "the trees" in the post. I think we're really going to like her a lot! De'Janae needs to bulk up a bit. Sorry to see Katie Lou is "injured" and not playing. Looks like Louisville has a great point guard coming in (Taja Cole) and a few other strong players (Asia Durr and Brianna Jones). Should be fun to watch and/or play against!

I am glad that this game was on ESPN3. I am watching the replay now. Pretty cool this is the 1st Jordan Brand Classic AA for the girls high school basketball. I hope that this JBC can grow for the girls. Not too many opportunities for girls high school basketball showcase games.

Part of me wishes she would skip that at this point and take the summer to heal and do non contact stuff.
some want them to play soooo much to brag that UConn girls are all over the place and show up the other schools etc., then there's others who dont want them to do anything til they arrive at UConn #scaredofinjuries

thanks

Both teams shot 33%, but Napheesa shot 78%. The ND recruits shot under 15% (3-22). Taja Cole shot the ball really well. She and Durr will really help Louisville.

geesh Kiah tell us why you really took those 18 shots:

"Playing in a game like this just gives me a chance to try to establish myself as one of the top players in the country," Gillespie said. "I mean, we are all top players in an event like this. But there are others who stand out even in a crowd like this. And that is what I aspire to do — get better and move forward as a player."

She's 17.

Doesn't matter how old or young she is. I've seen this one issue with her in high school, AAU games, and now prospect showcases. You don't want her over dribbling up the floor through defenders anymore than you would Swin Cash. Fortunately, UConn has the guards and head coach who will make sure she doesn't do it anymore.

FWIW. Napheesa Collier, Born on Sept. 23, 1996, in Jefferson City, Missouri.
She's 18 now and will be 19 later this year. She is a year older than most of the other HS seniors.

Uh-oh . . .

I think Napheesa is a marvel. What length! I cannot wait to see her next year. I think she will benefit greatly from playing with players who are as good or better than she is.
