Well that also says that Weist did not like him at FB. I have mentioned that I am hoping that one of the FB candidates Clax, Vinci, Walsh, etc. could bring back some of the "Sherman" tank attributes we have missed. I always wondered if Frank could give us something on defense since he was fairly highly rated in his incoming class. Hope it is not just a move to replace him, but he truly fills an open need we have (such as who fills Trevardo's pass rush slot). Could he be an edge rusher for us? Any thoughts?

Clax at 5'11" 240 is like Sherman/Davis. At 6' 3" 255lbs. , Frank much resembles Joseph, Santos and Norris. Remember we initially recruited him as a DE/LB? and re-recruited him as a FB. Hopefully it will benefit both postions. I keep wondering about Louis.

I think we were spoiled a bit by back to back NFL full backs in Anderson and Sherman. Frank though whiffed on too many Block attempts. Cripes in one game he whiffed and tackled the running back.

Came out of HS as a weakside defensive end.

#40 on below list.

Also...

Joe Williams showcased terrific speed and explosiveness today. Very fast. Geremey Davis a load at WR. 2tds.

Like Foxx in the slot. Coaches high on him there. Shalom Phillips sat out with bumps and bruises. Not serious. (he corrected to Shakim - "damn auto-correct")

On bad side: several center QB exchange problems. That is a drive and momentum killers.

Those wondering at FB. Wyatt Vinci as a blocker seems to be a favorite. Jazmeer Clax is also in there. Clax is also a RB.

If we look at the trend out of the NFL, fullbacks are becoming a thing of the past. We need a stout offensive line with Tight Ends that can make places in order to succeed. The college game always is a few steps behind the NFL in scheming but it is important to watch this change as we head to the future with this program. Not sure a full back that is of the vintage of previous Uconn FB is necessary any more.

This spot was definitely a problem last year, wiffed blocks mentioned by Noeynox in earlier post. It is encouraging to see this being addressed early so that a solution can be found. Fullback is getting rare in the NFL but it is to our advantage to be able to run with a FB/TB combo. The cold is one thing but the Rent is really windy and if we can wear teams down like we did pre-PP to go along with an improved air game this will be one happy Boneyard.

Like this move. Frank is a beast, but he did not seem particularly effective as a blocker nor mobile as a receiver out of the backfield.

Kid's a maniac. Almost decapitated a UMASS player on kick-off coverage last season.

Why was this kid playing fullback if he was a de in high school. His blocking during the Syracuse game almost got whitmer killed. He looked lost at fullback in other games too. Hope he found his home sounds like he is a beast

I remember that Randy had the idea to move him to fullback and said he discussed this with Frank in his home visit and Frank was excited about the chance to play offense. I also didn't see much good stuff on offense and hope he can be a beast on defense. It's tough to shuttled around to different positions while the team tries to find the best way you can contribute. Sometimes players who don't get the right opportunity just end up not being a factor.

He shoulda been there for the start of his career... He came out of Poughkeepsie (sp?) as a DL recruit when Edsall moved him to FB... Hope his last few years are fruitful for him on that side of the ball... Kinda messed (IMO) that this happened to him though...He's got little time left to make an impact....

There's a small silver lining on his fullback play. Being in offensive meeting for the last few years should help Frank on the defensive side of the ball. He will be behind technique-wise. But DE is much easy to play than almost any offensive position. Hopefully, his understanding of offensive concepts will help him be a smarter defender.

The move could signify positive things. First we have some depth at FB one would assume. And, maybe he takes the route of Reggie Maclean, where the coaches know how to get the most out of a player.

What unadulterated hogwash. He's been a starter at FB for two friggin years. You think it would have been good for the team if someone not as good as him had been starting at FB? Or you just know that someone else whom you've never seen play would have been better?

And people think my ego is out of control.

personally, I do think we had a better fullback on the roster in Osiecki, but he was kept off the field because of head trauma. Speaking of which, the NFL to my knowledge, is in court in front of a judge regarding the handling of knowledge about head trauma and it's effects, for the very first time today somehwere in a judicial district around Philly.

If another guy doesn't play, you don't know if he is any good. One thing we know for sure though, you can't have eyes in your head, that actually work , and think that Ruben was any good as a fullback. At best he looked like a big kid playing out of position. At worst, he was getting trucked by a player from Fordham. Just wasn't a fit. On kickoffs, however, he is an absolute terror.

If he was kept out because of a concussion, it was the right thing to do. As we are learning more and more, those are nothing to fool with.

I didn't say he did a good job. Overall, he didn't.

I just think it's beyond silly to be blaming coaches for having a player out of position, when the player was a two year starter while in the position. Normal people might assume that if we had materially better options at FB, we would have used them.

We will find out this year I it was silly or not, but it sounds like he has too much de talent to have been moved

And the other 2 guys are adequate replacements. Maybe we are deep here with Clax and Vinci.
