RE: "...not enough time has passed to decide how to proceed"

I'm not going to assume anything at this point.

I'm thinking there will be no report because the arm is still swollen or it's too early to determine anything. That is just my thinking on this.

I agree. They probably want to give it day to calm down. Lots of ice in the meantime.

I have to believe that, regardless of swelling, X-Ray or MRI would give enough information to know what the problem is, or at least eliminate problems. I'm thinking they want a complete diagnosis and treatment plan before any announcement.

Pure speculation on my part..........
I would expect that the Athletic Department is making sure all the appropriate parties are up to date (parents etc) before the public knows, and that there are answers to the questions that will be asked by the public and press....not a good sign..

I hope I am wrong

Her mother is there so I assume she was present during today's tests.

They also could be playing a bit of the 'keep Brenda Frese guessing' game.

Four possibilities.

Out for a few games.

Out for a few weeks

Out for a few months

Out for the season.

Whatever it is, it is lousy for us, but much worse for KML, her family and teammates.

I'll wait until we know more to give my opinion on impact to the team.

Crap. Not the "good news" scenario I had hoped for , but not definitively bad either, I guess.
I agree that it is not a good sign, but will keep hoping for the best for Kaleena. We're so lucky to have great kids like this in our program... it really hurts when they hurt.

The only way for UConn to update KML's injury would be to issue a press release or statement to the media. When was the last time that was done? The media is already scheduled to meet with Geno and the team tomorrow so it makes sense for Geno to talk about it then. UConn fans and Brenda will just have to wait.

This reporting delay can't be good. Swelling doesn't render imaging studies ineffective. I certainly don't think there's any cat-and-mouse game being played here. Brenda Frese has too much to worry about with or without Kaleena, and everyone knows it. We just have to hope it isn't season-ending. If we have her back, and in form, by tourney time, we'll be fine. I want to win every game, but we all have too much invested in the idea of an undefeated season. Let's just get #9, hopefully, with her in the lineup.

I'm going with no breaks, and no tears, since an x-ray and MRI would reveal those. That fits nicely with the hyper-extended theory. So for today, I'll assume that she's lost for a game or two but not the season. In the absence of compelling information to the contrary, why not assume the best case scenario rather than the worst case scenario?

For those of you who are so inclined, keep the prayers coming....

I hope it is minor, but if it turns out to be more I hope they redshirt her rather than have her come back towards the end of the season. Let her heal 100% and have an entire extra season. She deserves that.

But I hope it looked worse than it is, that it is something minor and that we see her back on the court very soon.

You know Patty, it didn't look that bad to me. I'm sure Kaleena would disagree though.

I don't see this as good or bad - just a delay - for all we know the test came back negative so it is soft tissue issues and only when swelling goes down will KML be able to assess how the arm feels. Fractures and such would show clearly but Uconn might still delay as they consult on various treatment options - DD hit it with his list and as much as we want to know something, we are not the important folks. Tomorrow is soon enough.

I couldn't bring myself to watch the replays so i cant directly comment on the severity other than what i saw in real time, but her screams were plenty bad enough for me.

It depends if she is fully healed towards the end of the season. According to the rules, she can't "redshirt" if she is healthy before the season ends. The doctors will often bend the rules to an extent, but most won't flagrantly break them.

Anyone ever try to line up a specialist/specialists and get a clear diagnosis and prognosis in less than 24 hours? Even with the extra pull that Geno and UConn has, this is not necessarily simple. Clearly KML and family also need to be the first to know and discuss the results and outcome possibilities. So IMHO, no news is no news, not necessarily bad or good because of the time that has passed. Like everyone I am uneasy and my prayers are with KML and family, but I'm not necessarily more optimistic or pessimistic because I don't know today.
