Agree with seven of his points. Disagree with three:

  • #5- seriously, leave Samarie alone. What's done is done. Why dredge that story up again?
  • #6- UConn-UD or UConn-Tennessee would be wonderful for someone in John A's profession, but the consensus among UConn fans was preferring that circus be avoided.
  • #7- KML is not going to approach 3,000 points for the same reason Diana and Tina didn't: too many talented teammates. But she is the truth- every bit as good as advertised.

#4 This was noticeable in the Duke-UConn game. Stokes held her own against Williams.

I agree with #7... BStew, BHart, SDol and whomever else after these guys will make it tough for KML. MJeff & MTuck too

Can you really call anyone on the Husky squad lazy? Compared to a super-intense teammate, maybe, but anyone who goes through the Husky freshman regimen and puts up the solid effort that Kiah has can't really be lazy, though likely she could do a lot more.

As to the 3000 pt mark for KML, you'll notice that John says she will "approach it," though I agree that she'll probably be about a hefty 300 points away from it if Husky history is a testament. She would need more than 19 points a game even with around a full 156 game career, and it is really tough to average more than 21 points for the rest of her years with the talent around her that precludes jacking up 20 shots a game.

What I don’t get is the mentality event organizers have about exacerbating the obvious disconnect by alienating those who love it by charging ridiculous sums of money to come to NCAA games and park there. The crowds in Bridgeport for the first- and second-rounds were stunningly bad, embarrassing even. But I do not blame UConn fans for turning away. I blame greed and the lack of understanding about the true circumstances faced by the core of fans who love women’s basketball.

This pretty much summed up what a lot of people posted here on the board. having said that, i'm not sure that people knew in advance what the parking $ would be so i'm not sure you can blame the low turnout on that...

I expected at least $10. With $41/game tickets x 2 people + $10 for parking, a couple could expect to pay at least $92 to attend one game. Add a couple bottles of water ($4 each), maybe two hot dogs ($3.75 each) and you're up to $115+ to watch UConn pound poor Prairie View.

yes, but you're forgetting the riveting game between KState and Princeton, which i think was included in the price for the 1st night, correct?!!

I don't know how the single game tickets worked. It was $62 for the three game package ($157+ for the couple in my previous scenario)

Re KML, Maya's record was partly driven by injuries--Mel, Kalana, and CD twice. I agree that KML will share PT and points, but she will be the designated shooter. I think she passes Tina, but not Maya

Re Kiah, I look at her as a sweet and laid-back kid. She is not lazy. Like Tina, she got by on superior ability. I don't know if Kiah can reach the level Tina did, but she can be really, really good. As with Tina, the road is a little bumpy, but she just needs to follow it.
