One of the three guys likely considered for the 1st pick, injures his foot. I wonder how much this hurts his stock?

And to put a Uconn spin on this... Can someone explain how he's a better prospect then Drummond coming out? Their numbers are so similar and Drummond played in a much harder conference. Not to mention Drummond's all world upside, I don't see what people see in Embiid.

Couldnt agree more. Ive been saying it for a while now. i would not draft him. this guy has major red flags when it comes to health. On a personal note if i had the top pick id go with Parker.

So you are comparing Embid to Bowie and Oden?

You do realize a broken foot is different than a microfractue knee surgery? Like they are completely different.

As a Celtics fan I hope the 5 GMs ahead of them have your same view.
You can have him. I wouldnt take him. Id rather not draft him and be wrong then to draft him and be right.

The Cavs have the #1. They'll probably have it again next year.

So why not take a flyer on a potential world beater? Can't lose situation.

How can any GM justify passing on a healthy stud like Vonlah for a guy with a raw game a bad back and a bad foot?
He will fall until risk vs reward point is met. Can't pass on Smart, Exum, etc.,. This guy plays and he gets hurt. Simple.
Bowie, Walton, Olden. Just examples of fragile bigs.

If Embiid drops to the Celtics I will literally dance around the room on draft night. There's no way 5 teams will pass on him though.

Yeah, no one is going to pass on Olajuwon. But is you draft him expecting to be that you're more than likely going to be let down.
Agreed, but I think he has the best chance to be a long time all star in this draft.

Do you take him over Wiggins and Parker given the health? Maybe not, but if you take a guy like Marcus Smart or Vonleh over him I think your making a major mistake.

If I have the #1 pick, I take Parker, because he's easily the least likely to disappoint.

“I think there is a point at which you use a pick on him, where you’re hoping maybe these are just fluke things that are not going to be recurring,” one general manager told Sporting News. “But that point is not in the Top 5 or so. You can't use a Top 5 pick. I think there are too many other good options there to think about using the pick on one who has these injury problems.” But while Embiid’s stock will almost surely drop behind Wiggins and Parker, just how far he will slip is debatable. He is still a Top 10 pick, the GM said, pointing out that Anthony Bennett (shoulder), Alex Len (foot) and Nerlens Noel (knee) were all chosen near the top of the draft last year despite injury concerns...

One thing is for certain. You won't be dancing around with Embiid. And if Randle turns into a HoFer power forward. And if
Embiid's career is one and done like his college career, you will be crying in your beer.

And all of them did squat.

That underscores the entire point of the discussion. No one with big injury concerns is going to do well in the first year. You are drafting for future, not now.

A lot "if"s here.

Every draft pick is a roll of the dice, no one knows if any of these kids will be good.

Take the best talent and pray for the best.

The more I hear Goodman talk about basketball the more I question how he has a job in that field. I heard him say Wiggins floor is Corey Brewer and his ceiling is Paul George.

It's amazing isn't it? I don't even get worked up about his UCONN analysis, but you just can't help remarking on his continuous stream of stupidity.
