Jim Mora agrees to new contract

I’m a basketball fan first, but root for football because of what it can do for the basketball program and the school. Really hoping that football can have another solid year next year and open the door to a non-ACC P4. If revenue share starts and sticks around, think it’ll be imperative

So this makes Mora Jr. The highest paid G5 coach (tied with Alex Golesh at USF lol)
Not to be that guy…but he isn’t a junior. I am amazed how long he has been coaching football and announcers still get this wrong.

I enjoy being independent in football. Big 12 and ACC are a year or two from being disbanded. They are both conference USA to me. Once you take in schools like SMU or Cincinnati it’s over. Big 10 and SEC are only long term options. I think being a successful independent football program gives us great flexibility.

They know Shaky but it's become shorthand to distinguish the two in an instant.

I don't want to be that guy either and I assumed Coach Mora was not a Junior. I don't believe he uses Junior in his name. However, I think it is actually up to the individual as to whether he wants to be named "Junior" regardless of his exact name. Announcers may get it wrong or they may just use Junior to distinguish between the two. I've seen it written that Junior is appropriate if the first and last names are the same. In the end I think it's a matter of choice. So it may be fine for announcers to use Junior if only to distinguish between the two.

I have never heard ot that. I know on his wikipedia it says he isn’t a junior. I tried to search and everything I find says all 3 names have to be the same.

“Current etiquette authorities insist that the Jr. suffix1 should only be bestowed if a
male child is given the same exact forename, middle name, and surname as his father
if he is still alive (Miller, 1962: 393; Post, 2004: 321; Tuckerman and Dunnan, 1995:
636).”

I knew Mora was a home run the instant he was hired. If UConn gave him the tools he would gladly retire here. They did and he will.
I did not know that. Same age as HCPP and HCRE2 0 when they took over. But it quickly became apparent that he had a much different skill set.

I was concerned about his time away from college football. Especially with all the recent changes. Would he be able to adapt to the new environment?

A resounding yes! He is the anti-Edsall!

My son and I stuck around after the game for the awards given out for MVP's etc. When the MC announced the contract extension, many of the players were downright jubilant - jumping up and down and cheering. Since the announcement came yesterday morning, it's possible (likely?) that the team didn't know and they were hearing the news for the first time.

Lol to think we finished with the same record in football that we would have had in basketball currently had we lost one of those nailbiters lately!!! Definitely glad we won those games... basketball still definitely our supreme sport ;).

Not a bad season for Mora and the bros though. Finally beat ACC, finally one of my teams beat Bill Belicheck (Jets fan here). And wondering if any chance that the UCONN FOOTBALL huskies will receive maybe a single vote in the polls at the end of the season???? Would be nice to see our name in the final rankings. I won't get my hopes up but would be pretty tight IMO.

Well done Mora. Incredible turn around making UConn a good FBS team. Dominating UNC was a move in the right direction. Next step is QB Welliver being the passing QB he was in high school.
