Jim Mora’s new staff coming together…

Someone should do a comparison of the number of off field positions rather than the total budget of the on field coaches' salaries. Sound like a significant expansion. Typical, the new guy gets all the tools necessary to succeed. The way of the world. Not complaining though. The failure of the predecessor informed decisions made on behalf of the successor.

Or maybe, Mora set conditions for taking the job, and sacrificed some salary in order to get a better infrastructure in place to give himself a better chance at success. I'm just spitballin, but he and DB spent a lot of time in Idaho together.
 
How bought them Miami Ohio Special Teams?!? Great bowl game win for them... lets hope to see same for us Huskies in the future!!

I think both of you are wrong on Mitchell vs Travis. Our best defensive player in my mind has been Kevon Jones, with Travis and Mitchell close behind. KJ has both size, strength AND speed for a big defensive player.

Arguably, off all our previous coaching positions under Edsall 2.0, he's got some shoes to fill considering the coaching job Eddie Allen did with our ST during his tenure here... Was probably the best part of our team (most watchable portion of it)

I made this point a month ago

Let me give you the contra logic. Excepting Spanos, we now have a staff identity: with Shearer there will be EIGHT young rising assistant coaches with solid experience in their positional area (maybe not Marinelli). That is by design. Sad to say ... you gain by a clean sweep. Then a cultural refresher. 8 coaches who all started around 2013-2014 and progressing. Plus Pehrson.
 
Georgetown TE coach joining as offensive graduate assistant and was offensive quality control and helped with OL at Maine

So is the staff of coaches at least done? You’re not limited by how many you have in the office, but are we now set for the folks actually coaching?
 
We are at the NCAA mandated limit - 10. 9 PLUS the HC

Looking at the hires plus the retained staff analysts, I think we look to see if Ben Chapman is still on staff (offensive line). Hilliard handling all the secondary needs to supplemented with a Analyst/Defensive QC. Maybe Charlton has a new assistant to help with QBs. And I bet you see a few recruiting assistants - all under Pehrson, Zyskowski.

The full staff will be another 5-9.

We now have the full allowable FBS limit - a head coach plus 10 assistants coaches.

TE Coach: John Marinelli

Misses the entire topic of Offensive + Defensive + Specials ANALYSTS. Plus Quality Control.

Seems like Alabama, annually, had a bench full of former coaches as Analysts. Like Lou Spanos. Kiffin. Sarkasian. Bill O'Brien. And on and on. Michigan - as we read- got dinged because Ryan Osborn was doing great work ... but was not supposed to be On Field Coaching - he is an Analyst. Whatever the NCAA has dictated, I feel Mora has pushed DB to have a full complement. And use them constantly in Storrs; but not Gameday coaches.

2 named: Luke Carrezola and Kyle Roundtree are retained.

A little more on DFO Goodman:




-> In Goodman, Mora is poised to add a former walk-on player at Penn State University who has deep ties in the region.

Most recently, Goodman has served as the DFO at Brown University.

Additionally Goodman, a finalist earlier this year for a scouting position with the NFL’s Cleveland Browns, previously served in a recruiting coordinator operations role for James Franklin at Goodman’s alma mater, Penn State.

Goodman also spent a pair of seasons in a player personnel intern role for the Buffalo Bills. <-

Feel that it is a joint effort with support from BOT and Governor. Desperation, whatever it takes. If they get some success then recruiting should improve more.
