Not surprised by Jefferson at all. She was impressive to my eyes in the first exhibition game. She truly looked like a PG to me and her passes. The zip on those passes where impressive. I think this freshman class is absolutely spectacular. Not shocked by Stokes either. I am so excited about this season.

It's been said before but worth repeating (not trying to convince anyone, just sayin!!) - there's a reason MoJeff was the highest rated PG EVER coming out of HS. While you never ever want to see injuries, having Bria and Caroline somewhat sidelined, it's given Moriah and Brianna a chance to really shine, grow, and play with the starters.

I have to admit, I knew Stewart would be spectacular. I knew Tuck would quietly be fantastic. But I'd not seen much of Moriah play and was not sure what to expect, except that she was so highly rated. She's been substantially better than I expected, and that's saying something. I'm gonna call it now - may not be the biggest class ever, but the class of 2012 will be deemed the best ever by the time they graduate...

If Stewart and Hartley do not play, and Doty is questionable, this team becomes much weaker and less deep. Scary how injuries add up and affect a team so quickly. I am genuinely concerned about Hartley at this point.

If Griner and Sims do not play and another starter don't play it devastates Baylor or any other team, too. Injuries can completely rewrite any season.

As well as she did in the first exhibition game, the fact that Mo is showing out in practice is actually much more impressive, and significant. Great to hear.

I have always loved what Mo brought to the table in terms of tools that couldn't be caught. However, I thought it would take a season to have a solid grasp of how to play in Geno's offense and that she wouldn't be a huge factor as a frosh. It's too early to say definitely that she's ahead of that curve, but this is still very promising. The proof will still be in the pudding against good teams, but this is obviously a positive early sign.

The UConn men had a pretty fair guard who took over as a frosh, Khalid El-Amin. Some kids are just ready, although point guard requires something really special to be comfortable as a leader right from the beginning.

I remember the story of him showing up in the summer, before his freshman year started, and playing in a scrimmage or pickup game, and directing some of the upper classmen on where they should be, players that were stars. It takes some leadership to pull that off.
