On the fifth of January, Jerry Coleman died in a hospital in San Diego. He was one of the really good men of baseball. He missed a total of five years in the majors because he was flying missions in WWII and Korea. Although he was at most an average player, he did make the all-star team in 1950 and in 1957 might have been the MVP of the World Series if the Yankees had won. He had two hits in game 7 against Lew Burdette and retired after that. He was an announcer for many years for the Padres. http://itsaboutthemoney.net/archives/2014/01/07/jerry-colemans-1957-world-series/

Good guy, loved him as an announcer just because I heard a lot of him back in the day…….RIP Jerry

I heard somewhere that Coleman and Ted Williams were wingmen for John Glenn. That's pretty cool.
